When I saw him back in 99 (or was it 2000?) it was about six months before L.D. 50 came out, and I saw him use two Warwicks, one black, on natural, going through an Ampeg 810, and an ampeg head (couldn't make the model)

However, on guitargeek.com, they have his signal chain limited to a compressor (I use one for my ADGCF and GCGC tuning). That's it. Just his fingers and a compressor.

I'd die for that sound!

As to "Fuzz" from Disturbed,, apparently he's actually a guitar shredder who knows just enough bass to make it big in a u wa ah ah ah type band.

Is he really? I find that funny because he actually plays with his fingers and he does slap/pop. I know that may not qualify him as a "pure bassist" in some of your books. Well we'll see what happens when their next album comes out.

Ryknow is possibly one of the best things about mudvayne (apart from the roadkill costumes!).

I think Tobin Esperance from Papa Roach is a brilliant "nu-metal" bass player.

I'd also go for Sam Rivers from the bizkit, and Chi Cheng from the deftones (but then the deftones have been around for awhile, and are just heavy metal as opposed to being nu-metal).

Yeah he's kinda a guitar player Fuzz lost out the guitar player position in the band over a game of basketball. Winner got to be guitar player loser got to be bassist. BTW why would you find it funny because plays with his fingers and can slap?

Where did you hear this stuff from? I don't know, I guess I don't understand what people mean when they say "play like a guitar player"...care to enlighten me?

Hard rock is like Aerosmith (Deftones are not this). And they are newer than most Heavy Metal bands, like Metallica or Mercyful Fate, etc (Deftones are not this either).

I'm not sure if they're NuMetal either, but they are certainly not Oldmetal. I think a defining charactersitic is the tuning. Nu Metal bands are drop-tuned while Heavy Metal bands are generally tuned standard.

Then again....theres nothing wrong with being Nu Metal....or is there? (I'd rather be Nu than Psychie!)

That doesn't really prove that much. The guitar player who's teaching me can slap like a skilled bass player. It's not that hard to learn, it just takes a little practice.

Yeah, I'd go with Stuart Richardson from lostprophets, he doesn't go over the top but he's pretty varied from song to song (on for sure I think he does some slap), andshetoldmetoleave is very drum n bass. All round quite good and does some interesting fills on some of the songs.

Ryknow is pretty good as well but MuDvAyNe suck a bit :).

And also, if you can call Incubus nu metal (which apparently they hate) then Dirk Lance rocks. A lot. He's a really good bassist.

Well Aerosmith is not hard rock to me, just play rock n' roll. Like said these guys are not metal NOT METAL!, there just Hard Rock-the good thing about hard rock is that it can be spread out to alot of styles. Nu-Metal to me lacks alot of creativity, and abuses phaser and flanger effects. You might like it-but i dont.
