Clean, not faded and no holes or tears Black denim pants would get someone started. Could be Levi's, Dickies, Dockers or your favorite brand. And also make sure they fit your body style. But it really all lies in what the musician is aiming for. Cover band? Casino band? Bar band? Wedding band? Black slacks/pants never fail and any other color can be worn with them.
I live in Nevada so most musicians I know here have some sort of outfit that has some sort of black or Black/white type of thing going on.
Then again if you're from Sweden???????? LOL

Sometimes my dog pants when my band practices at my place. But I'm not sure it's pants for music.
Say a musician friend of yours was just starting out, and could only afford one pair of pants to make music in. These pants would have to be used for every type of gig, from a Jazz trio playing a fancy cocktail party to a Swedish metal festival in a snowstorm. What leg garb would you recommend?
For the purpose of this exercise, skirts, dress bottoms and tube socks are considered pants.
Black denims go with just about anything/setting. I used to have a pair of badass leather pants that fit & moved like my skin; used to belong to my girlfriend but she felt I looked better in them than her and she gave them to me!
