Best phaser for bass

The MXR Phase 90 is my choice. I'm a fan of the MXR line, so I may be somewhat biased.

Juan got alot of cool sounds but I want to say some of the samples he was playing maybe some reverse delayed loops, since I doubt this pedal alone was making those reverse sounding samples. If it did though....MIND BLOWN! But did seem very versatile. Damn it I know I'll have to get one at some point now. Like if I didn't already have enough phasers lol

I just messed around with it a little more and A/Bed it with my 90. I am going to say it does keep the boomy lows and can sound pretty close to a 90. Might not be identical but if you put up sound clips I bet people would have a hard time picking which was which.

I've been pondering a Phaser for a while now. I just picked up a Joyo Vintage Phase (MXR P90 clone) to see if I even wanted to have a permanent place for a Phaser on my board. I used to own an MXR Phase 90 (block) and always loved it's sound on bass. I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised with the Joyo and won't be looking any further for the moment. It NAILS the Phase 90 sound and has a surprisingly broad sweep. Maybe a hair more subtle than the MXR, but the full range of the knob is there and it does a great job on every position. I hadn't seen many reviews on it for bass (shocking!) so it was a shot in the dark, but I'm overall happy with it. Now if I could only find a use for it...

Awesome man thanks for A/B those for me. Does anyone know if this phase 99 is going to have a limited run like from what I heard of the new "mxr la machine"? Hate to have missed out on buying one then having to pay ridiculous money for one later on the used market.

It does say limited-edition on the pedal and I know the la machine says that too. I'll try to get some sound clips up of a 90 and a 99 But between work and having a two-month-old baby my bass playing time has been very limited.

I really like the old Akai Intelliphase. Size wise, it is very pedal board unfriendly (hostile, even :D). However, it is one of sweetest, most tasteful sounding and versatile phasers I've ever used. Great with bass and guitar.

The Hardwire SP-7 is VERY GOOD sounding and very versatile. Gives you everything from subtle Phase 45 2-stage phasing to watery Mu-tron Bi-phase tones and beyond. You really aren't sacrificing sound quality for features with this pedal. I really dig the Hardwire line of pedals. Their Chorus pedal is awesome, too!

I finally was able to convince johnk to build me a clone of the Mu-Tron phasor II - it might be the only thing that actually gets the MXR script Phase 90 off of my board. I love that original script circuit. Sounds so good. But the Mu-Tron has madness that the MXR just doesn't.
