Pink Floyd wasn't Pink Floyd after Syd was gone. Piper is, by far, the best. That's not to say WYWH or Animals or DSOTM aren't worthwhile (they're great, in fact) but replacing the weirdness and whimsy of Barrett with the dreariness and depression that is Waters/Gilmour was - well - something of a downer.

Even though I voted for Piper at the Gates of Dawn, I'm still surprised Saucerful of Secrets isn't getting any love. With tunes like See-Saw, Remember a Day, and Corporal Clegg, it was still a contender for me.

Damn this poll is a tough call. I wish we could have voted for our top 5 and seen how that panned out.

I'm grateful that you threw away my old shoes, and brought me here instead dressed in red!

Purists might not like Division Bell or Momentary Lapse of Reason, but I love those albums. I love Dark Side of the Moon, and feel that was the band's best creative work. The Wall has it's great moments. All in all, though, I voted for Wish You Were Here for the overall quality song to song and the fantastic continuation of the kind of work they did in Dark Side. I appreciate the creative work in some of their more avant garde albums, but I honestly just don't dig listening to it. :)

Call Me Crazy Carrot Lady FTW!

Honestly I have never been much of a Floyd fan mainly because of Waters. I do really like David Gilmour though. Because of that I would say that "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" is my favorite. It came out when I was in college so I have a lot of good memories of listening to that record at my frat house in a haze of smoke!:D

The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon are easy answers because of the notoriety they have received. But I have to go with what I am listening to the most, so my answer is Wish You Were Here. And I think the more you enjoy Pink Floyd, the more you find yourself listening to deep tracks, so our answers will naturally cover the gamut.

I know it may be cliche to say that The Wall is their best album. I mean its their most popular album, so it cant be their best can it? Doesn't a lesser known underrated album have to be better than that?

All kidding aside. The way The Wall was constructed, more like a story than a bunch of songs on one record. The way they use recycled riffs that tie one side of the album to the other and kind of bring you back to the beginning. It makes it maybe the best album ever written, and easily Floyds greatest work. It was a true masterpiece, their 5th symphony if you will.

MORE, recorded in only 1 week, killing movie also, OP forgot that... And this is a nice but underrated album :rollno:

And I do agree with some here that say Piper At The Gate Of Dawn is their best album: playing in a PF tribute, we are now thinking of giving Syd Barrett his due... and naturally Piper At The Gate Of Down comes in mind :rolleyes:

Remember that Syd is the major influence of the band: Wish you were here, shine on you crazy diamond, The Wall,... Syd has always been there in their minds, and Dave Gilmour continued working with him on his solo projects :smug:
