small personal pies or long... i guess rectangle is the only word for it, cut into smaller squares and served as a snack at around room temp mostly. I used to get it for breakfast while waiting for my bus. Breakfast of motha****** champions.

Too many in brooklyn, little italy and queens (i just had a slice at a little place on 164th street in Queens that just was heaven...I grew up a mile away and never had been there)

But I heard the birthplace of pizza in the US was actually an old place in Connecticut....anybody remember its name?

In the early years of the 20th century (the Pizza Legend goes) Frank Pepe immigrated to New Haven, where he created the first American pizza by putting tomatoes on top of old bake-shop bread. His creation was so successful that in 1925 Pepe opened his first pizzeria on Wooster Street. By 1938, business was booming, the whole family was involved, and Pepe's nephew Sal Consiglio split off and opened his own pizzeria, Sally's. Soon, Pepe had moved out of his original store, now called The Spot, and opened a larger restaurant. Sally's and Pepe's remain locked in their Wooster Street rivalry today, two blocks apart.

You're wrong. A bunch of years ago when I lived in SoCal, there was a place in Hollywood...all of my friends and I called it "The Gate," because there was a monster gate in front of it's courtyard. But I think the actual name of the place was International Foods or something like that. ANyway, it was owned by an Italian guy and he ran it with his sons. My friends and I ate lunch there almost everyday. We even had credit at the place because they knew we would always come back. So we would run tabs for a month or so at a time and hen settle up with him. Anyone who lives in the area now might know if it's still there. It was on Hollywood Blvd, kinda around Cahuenga blvd (if memory serves). Great pizza!

There was also a place in Lousiana called Johnny's that had awesome pizza. I don't know if they're still around or if it's good now like it was; but back around the mid 80's, Johnny's made a mean pizza.

Beats any NYC pizza that I've had but I still have yet to visit DiFara's in Brooklyn or his daughters place Demarcos on Houston St. in Manhattan. You don't know what you are missing.

Those prices are ridiculous. If I want pizza, I get Papa Murphy's, the take and bake place. Really affordable, generous sizes, plus you get to bake it how you like.

I have had amazing thin crust NY style, and Chicago deep dish (eaten Gino's East) and absolutely loved them both...

"where can you get the best Pizza in the world?"...This is an unanswerable question...
