Best Pizza in the World

well its not the best but it is the spiciest. its called the hotshot pizza and its ****ing rediculous. its a pizza base but instead of tomatoe sauce its like a curry sauce type thing thats pretty hot then for topping its this indian chicken, keema, jalapenos, chilipeppers, lamb balti, and peppers, you just sit there eating it sweating and panting and gasping for water. its really tasty but it feels like a real ordeal while your eating it.

In the early years of the 20th century (the Pizza Legend goes) Frank Pepe immigrated to New Haven, where he created the first American pizza by putting tomatoes on top of old bake-shop bread. His creation was so successful that in 1925 Pepe opened his first pizzeria on Wooster Street. By 1938, business was booming, the whole family was involved, and Pepe's nephew Sal Consiglio split off and opened his own pizzeria, Sally's. Soon, Pepe had moved out of his original store, now called The Spot, and opened a larger restaurant. Sally's and Pepe's remain locked in their Wooster Street rivalry today, two blocks apart.

I've been to all three of those Wooster St. joints many times. They all rule, plain and simple.:cool:

But best in the world? I have a lot of investigation to do before I'd even try to answer that.

Let me start by saying that I know Pepe's phone number by heart and I haven't lived in New Haven for 25 years. (203) 865 5762.
I think the quality at Pepe's declined when they started selling t-shirts, but it is still very good/excellent. Sally's has stayed pretty much the same.

Spinatos in Phoenix, AZ and it seems every UNOs I've eaten at has had the same consistency in their pizza (not saying its great) but its nice to know of a place to get good pizza when your in a "pizza challenged" state (California, Idaho, New Mexico to name a few...)

Uno's wasn't my favorite when I lived in Chi-Town, but I like the fact I can get something close to a good pie outside of Chicago.

Totino's Pizza Rolls.

That's my 6-year-old daughter's pick.

Mine? There was a place I went to in Norwalk once...might have been in Darien...anyway, it was amazing. They have a "white" pizza called the Whitestone, if anyone knows what place this was, please tell me.

Uno was always about the best pizza in California, during my time there. I used to get pizza at a few places in NYC back in my military-school days, and it always rocked, no matter where I got it (except Sbarro's <sp?> Overdone, tasteless filler).

Agreed, I hear it has to do with being closer to sea level. Best out here on LI? Matt's,Lake Grove.Thin crust covered in sesame seed, good balance of sauce and cheese. Second runner up was the Greek pizza across from the car dealers. fets cheese and spinach,sesame crust. heart attack but good.
