Best Pizza in the World

The question was not about the cheapest pizza,
Cheaper slice = cheaper ingredients. most places in NYC don't even use real cheese & yet the reputation does not suffer......
Pie in the Sky does take & bake as well. Just between you and me I treat my belly properly. You get what you pay for. Di Fara's pizza in Brooklyn (supposedly the best slice in town) is now $4.00 a slice.

I do too.

Have you even heard of Papa Murphy's or been there? They don't use crap ingredients.

Those prices are ridiculous. If I want pizza, I get Papa Murphy's, the take and bake place. Really affordable, generous sizes, plus you get to bake it how you like.

I agree about the prices but that's what a pizza costs in California. I'm originally from upstate NY and I could get a large pizza for $10.00-$12.00. I do have to try the places in Berkeley though as it's only down the road from me and if you have always had good pizza and you have not had a real good pizza in a long time you will spend a premium for it.

back on topic...nobody has any idea what a great pizza is. It's great to here the NYC vs. Chicago style is the best cause they are BOTH WRONG!!! :D

THIS is the best pizza on the planet...

now all you NYC and Chicago people walk away in shame. :bawl:

Frank Pepe's Pizzeria on Wooster street in New Haven CT.
Thin crust, coal fired brick oven.
I dig the white clam pie. Olive oil, fresh clams, garlic, herbs, a touch of parmesan cheese. Add onion and bacon if you wish. Unsurpassed. There is no substitute. The tomato pie is good too. The link has some pretty good pictures. I can pm info on how to avoid the long lines and two hour waits.

i've been a pizza junkie for many years now..my vote goes to spazzos in wantagh, long island. that pizza intoxicates me more than varius substances of questionable legality..

the next 2 best are picollos in bellmore and vincents in lynbrooke.

any other ones around this area, let me know!

I'd like to throw down a few other votes for other great pizza joints,
Spinatos in Phoenix, AZ and it seems every UNOs I've eaten at has had the same consistency in their pizza (not saying its great) but its nice to know of a place to get good pizza when your in a "pizza challenged" state (California, Idaho, New Mexico to name a few...)

what about that chain in the south, cici's i believe its called? those people thatll make a pizza out of anything..cheese macoroni (or is it macoroni and cheese?), apple pie pizza, barbeque pizza...

well its not like a new york pie, but its quite interesting..i really liked it when i was down in north carolina.

For best overall-Gino's East. It's a bonus that A. i'm in the delivery zone, B. they sell them frozen at Jewel. They typically cost about $10 at Jewel and take 45mins to heat in the oven. $10 is a lot better than $20+ tip. It's not quite as good as fresh from the restaraunt, but it's also half as much.

Gino's Vs. Giordano's-Gino's for me.

Jive-i need to try Palermo's. I'll do a google search to find out how to get there.

The other place that i like here is Uno's. Didn't like Connie's [crust was too dry & it had a funky after taste] or Rosati's very much. Edwardo's was pretty good [had their thin crust], but i'd go with a bit less salt on the bottom of the crust.

Now thin crust-Pizza King in Indiana. I think it's a regional chain, but i was brought up eating that pizza. It's thin and cut into squares, uses tomato paste. Every time i go back to Lafayette-i go there. I get one of two pizzas every time-sausage & pepperoni [classic to me] or sausage and bacon w/barbecue sauce instead of tomato paste.

I live in the Pizza capital of the world, Brooklyn NY.

:eyebrow: What about pretty much anywhere in Italy? That is where they invented the stuff - I don't think that the Americans have the edge on the Italians in this race...

1) Why the hell do you guys call pizzas 'pie'? Read about Pies

2) The best pizza I ever ate was in Berlin. It had tomato sauce, mozzarella, prosciutto, salami, mushrooms, rocket and walnuts. Thin crust. Gorgeous. It was a beautiful sunny day, and I sat outside with my gf, and one of my best friends and his gf. It was amazing.

Glad someone mentioned it. I didn't try the one in Santa Cruz, only Monterey, but their pizza is great. Maybe not the best in the world but probably the best I have had personally. I've been craving it while sitting out here in The Middle of Nowhere, Texas.

I've tried it in Capitola, Monterey, and San Jose. With the exception of the original Capitola shop, they fail in comparison. Namely because I've found it tends to be more on the burnt side in the latter 2 locations. :bawl:
