Cool bro. I thought it was a stringray but wasn't completely sure. I would like to here how you played that at Church. Rod Steward "Passion", The Little River Band "Happy Anniversary", are some others I liked too.

Another great pop bass line that I don't think has been mentioned yet is Tommy Cogbill's work on "Son of a Preacher Man" by Dusty Springfield. He's doing some pretty serious riffing at the end of that song, which is even more impressive when you realize he's doing this while Dusty is still singing and yet he doesn't get in the way of the lead vocal at all.

I recall reading an interview where Hungate was asked about that little slap/pop thing during the choruses.
I heard "Rosanna" yesterday...sounds like Hungate was internalizing the 3:2 Clave during the song's verses-

This tune gets mentioned a lot around here. I recall reading that it was Chuck Rainey...some here didn't believe it, so I e-mailed Rainey & he responded with a long answer that detailed the entire session. Bernard Purdie was on cans for that track, FWIW.
