Best Short Scale Basses

Depends on your price range... and what sounds you like. I owned a vintage 60s fender mustang that had a great warm sound with lots of articulate mids. It would fill the bill well in a rock style gig. I own a 32 scale (which is medium scale but) alembic which was amazing. I use it for everything from progressive metal to old school beatles tunes. If you have a chance to grab an alembic short scale I recommend you do so.

If money is no object, then get Scott to make you a custom Birdsong bass.

I've also got an SG Reissue which plays great and sounds real good for rock bass once I replaced the pickups. Though some like the stock "mudbucker" pickups that it comes with.

Is there a reason you are wanting one? Have you got small arms? lol

Yes, that Gretsch is nice and light. Looks good and feels good.

I'll say too, that the other day I played an Ibanez GARTB in a Guitar Center and that was not bad at all. Most impressive for the price and tone options were interesting. The electronics were not stunning, but suitable.
