Okay, so we’ve done a good job on the moon. Let’s take on the sun!



Pros: groovy bassline, great vocals.
Cons: nobody wants to hear about the Age of Aquarius. Get to the good part!



Pros: there are so many versions, but I had to go with this because they blend so well together.
Cons: Whar bass? WHAR????



Pros: you can sing Beavis and Butthead style to it.
Cons: that hat



Pros: You can tell they’re actually playing it. Ron Carter.
Cons: sort of had to stretch the definition



Pros: soulful with a great groove
Cons: ain’t no sunshine



Pros: great song for cruising or just chilling out
Cons: some of the lyrics are…well, it doesn’t seem like they tried hard.



Pros: great singing voice
Cons: it isn’t “Take Me Home Country Roads”



Pros: none
Cons: I have brought shame upon my family for seven generations by including this.

I would have to give the nod to Here Comes The Sun, but, Walking On Sunshine is a close second.

The epitome of, well, Sunshine Pop; Ted Templeman, Doobies/Montrose/Van Halen (and countless others) producer, was in this outfit…

And here I was thinking I could be the only TBer left to remember Harpers Bizarre! I bought that LP, and somehow didn't yet think the guys looked sort of creepy.

But in retrospect, Warner Bros. was on a real creative roll back then. A young Van Dyke Parks wrote that tune, and Templeman went on to produce this:

I take creative license with this one, but Sunday comes from Old English “Sunnandæg," which is derived from a Germanic interpretation of the Latin dies solis, "sun's day."
