best sounding bedroom setup

I'm looking for a good sounding amp, either combo or pre/cab for my bedroom. It doesn't need to be the loudest thing on earth , perhaps around 150 watts. I tried out the Ampeg Micro VR head/2x10 cab today and it sounded great but perhaps there is a lot better out there? I'd like to stay under about 800 bucks...It would also be great if it could stand up to small gigs and be fairly transportable (I know...I am asking for a lot). My bass is a musicman ernie ball stingray classic with flats on it.

I'm using a GK MB200 & a Hartke Hydrive 112.

$600, and I'm really happy with the sound.

Way more power than I need for home/band practice, but it's loud enough for the small gigs we play.

Plus, with the switchable impedance on the Hydrive, I can add on my 2X10 if need be, and move some semi-serious air.

You'll get lots of opinions, since what sounds good to one person can be different to another. I have a Markbass CMD 121P combo that I run a Sansamp BDDI into and it's great for both practice and gigs. You can find them used in your price range.

The new Ampeg mini-heads with a small cab would be a great option, I think. The PF350, PF500 and Micro VR all sound good to me, and the price points are well within your limit even with a cab purchase in addition to the head.

I see the room “bed room” setup but also see “gig worthy” so I recommend the Carvin MB15. It has a small footprint, about the size of most 12” combos, yet has enough power to drive an extension for a full 250w stack. Around 400 bucks (delivered), you still have enough for the BR115N-8 extension cab for a big gig worthy 2x15 stack.
For smaller gigs you won’t even need the extension because the combo puts out 200w by itself. The features and options are VERY impressive in this price range.

A buddy loaned me his Markbass CMD 121P for a while, and it's pretty sweet. No problem jamming with others, either.
You'll have to find one used, in your price range.
In the Acoustic, I would do the B100 or B200. Great power and tone and well within your budget. These are HEAVY.
The Ampegs are a good choice, and I like the tone shaping tools with the PF-500.

I have to agree with Jimmy, I have both the Acoustic 260 and the Micro VR, I initially was blown away by the Acoustic until I tweaked the Ampeg's controls a bit. The Micro VR definitely can be used in a band setting, the little Acoustic not so much.
If you're going to buy an Acoustic for a "bedroom" or "practice" amp, get the 100 or 200.
