I agree the NLXL's have a really rich tone. But I'm going to wait until they have a "BT" version of them, as feel across the board is as important to me, if not moreso, than tone.

I tried a set of these on my Gibson Q-80. Liked 'em. I didn't dance around or anything... but definitely a step up from D'Addario's standard XL offerings.

That bass is weird anyway. It sounds really aggressive anyway. I even tried Chromes on it once.

I know in the past I've posted here on TB that I've finally found the absolute "best strings" ever!; but this time I'm serious ... more serious than the last time. My current/last favorite strings are the D'addario EXL165TP (45-105); now, they're still great sounding strings but I have to admit, I always felt they could stand to have some more bottom end BUT, the folks at D'addario must've been listening (to reviews) and decided to do something about that and came out with the NYXL set. These strings are Absolutely Amazing in tone and feel; if you haven't tried a set of these yet, do yourself a favor asap, and get some; I guarantee you (about 60-70% of you) agree and make them your new favorite string. ... well, this IS TB, so I'll say at least 20% will agree . Anyways, I LOVE these strings!View attachment 4131108

I have a set of those as a backup for one of my Precisions, it currently has D'Addario made, Fender branded, rounds on it. I have tapewounds on my other Precision with Ernie Ball Cobalts flats as their backup.

I wanna try them, but can't bring myself to swapping out the strings on that bass just yet.

I like both NYXL and Super Brights.

I'm currently using NYXL 45-105+130T, SB Nickels (45-105 and 30-130), and SB Stainless (40-120). Although, I still prefer if D'A would have kept on making the FlexSteels (which were made w/ more or less the same recipe of small hex-core wires just as the NYXL but with stainless steel outer wraps), cause I found certain bass would sound better with stainless steel strings and D'A current stainless steel rounds, the Pro Steels, don't have the same flexibility as the NYXL or the late FlexSteels. Thank God we do have the Super Brights now.

My best strings ever are whenever I install a new set I've never tried before, get really excited about them, swear that's all I'll ever buy again, get used to their sound, excitement wears off, start thinking bass strings all sound more alike than different but there just might be an even better string out there, try out that set...Best string ever.

I really like NYXLs. Compared to standard XL nickels I fing they have nicer\fuller low end, slightly subdued top and and more harmonic content. They are also a little more flexible due to the smaller core wire.

I find that my favourite strings though are still EB Slinky (nickel) and DR Fat Beam (steel). I find that NYXLs and Fat Beams have similar tone. The Fat Beams just last a lot longer and sound a little sweeter in the top end.
