If you are showing a Precision bass locally to sell, what are the best strings to have on the bass?
Fresh, aged, dead?
Round, flat.....
As long as the strings aren't totally dead and gone I'd say don't really worry about it. Everyone who buys it will just put it her own set of whatever they like on there. Now if you do have a pack of strings you'd like to get rid of I'd just keep them to the side and send them with the bass. if the buyer wants new strings but isn't sure what kind then you have a set right there to try.
