Best strings You have played

I’ll pile on the love for the Deep Talkin Labellas Flats. I threw a set on my Spector couple weeks ago and gigged for the first time with em last weekend. They are super “throaty” and deep. Plenty of low end but still held solid punch and definition.

My other vote is TI Jazz Flats. Plenty of threads about these and YouTube demos. For me they are the best all around string. I’ve got them on my American Standard P and will never use another string on that bass. They are amazing. Love em.

Obviously I’m a Flats kinda guy these days. Once you get used to them they are hard to beat. Can’t speak to slap playing. I’m strictly a fingers and occasional pick rock player.

Put together a list of strings and go down the YouTube and Talkbass search rabbit hole. Listen on some good headphones and you’ll get most of the answers you are looking for. But in the end trial and error is going do it. It’s part of being a bassist I’m afraid. I’ve got a drawer full of strings I’ve tried and not ended up keeping. And when I get a new bass I’ll spend an afternoon noon swapping on and off to see what fits for whatever sound I’m looking for. It’s actually fun! And much better than GAS!

i have a G&l JB5 and I have tried several different brands of strings. DR high beam, Low bottom, from Dran at Warrior and most of the more common Onet that GC carries. I have yet to find the “perfect set”. I am looking for a clean, clear set that has some pop but not too funky. I know this is going to be one of those threads that people say that there isn’t a perfect string, but let me know what you think is the closest you have come across. Thanks
Perfect for me? La Bella 760N. Perfect for you? I can’t say. The only way to know is to spend a lot of money unfortunately

First off I would like to say Awesome choice with the G&L JB5! Reading through the posts here I have to compliment many excellent suggestions. I feel it comes down to What kind of music are you mostly playing??..GENRE... That would at least limit it between flats or roundwounds...and then we can go from there...so many choices...Some of my favorites are:
ghs pressurerounds, rotosound nexus, labella deep talkin flats, ghs precision flats...and the list goes on...
