Best strings You have played

I really like the LaBella Gold Flats. I just don't want to keep flats on me Wilkins p/j all the time. Maybe I need another bass just for flats. Maybe an Olinto like this:

I’m extremely happy with Fodera Nickel Med Lights. Bought 10 sets.

Yeah, big fan of those Fodera strings recently, although I use 45-105. I've been using them on my standard tuned jazz bass and really like them. However, I still like D'Addario XL Nickels on my P-bass that's tuned down 1/2 step.

Over the last few years I've tried DR Hi Beams, Lo Riders, Black Beauties, Pure Blues, Sunbeams, Ernie Ball Slinky, Rotosound 66, GHS Boomers, and Fender strings.

I can tell you what I use that I like but nobody can tell you what is best: doesn’t work that way.

1. Rotosound RS66LF .45 to .105
2. DR high beams, any size, all the gauges sound great. Especially fond of .45-.105 and the amazing .40 to .100.
3. TI Jazz Flats. That’s a fun and (for me) very different kind of string.

For me certain basses like certain strings. I have had exceptionally good luck with the following:

- DR Fat Beams - Super steel strings! Prob my favorites.
- R. Cocco NPS Nickel rounds - Great strings but hard to get and a little pricey. Nickel makes them a little mellower than naked stainless like the Fatbeams. Best nickel string IMO.
- Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats. For basses with flats the EB Cobalts have a little bit of attitude that sets them above other flats.
- Honorable mention - Ernie Ball Slinkys. Many EBMM basses sound best with these. Don't know if they voiced the preamps with these in mind, but they work well in those applications.
