Best strings You have played

Flats: EB Cobalt (flats for people who think they don’t like flats)

i have a G&l JB5 and I have tried several different brands of strings. DR high beam, Low bottom, from Dran at Warrior and most of the more common Onet that GC carries. I have yet to find the “perfect set”. I am looking for a clean, clear set that has some pop but not too funky. I know this is going to be one of those threads that people say that there isn’t a perfect string, but let me know what you think is the closest you have come across. Thanks

I love DR Pure Blues. I have an old thread in which I demo how they sound. Check it out. They're just a beautiful string with a beautiful sound.

I've tried Ernie ball, D'addario steels, D'addario nickels, sadowksy, sadowsky flats, labella flats,

nothing for me is better than DR high beams for my basses and my sound. last long, stay in tune, and feel good.

When I bought a Birdsong cBass, it came strung with Curt Mangan Fusion-Matched nickel roundwounds. Every bass I've owned since has had them. I have no idea what "fusion-matched" means, I just know they feel really good on my fingers, and they are at the "warm" end of the spectrum.

I got a set of those too on my semi retired Ibanez. Amazing on that bass.

I haven't even bothered with others since I discovered DR Hi-Beams a few years back. I may try Sunbeams or Pure Blues, though - as you may want to as well.

I go with various brands of nickel strings on all of my basses. I prefer a more mellow, less bright tone.

After trying many brands of nickel and stainless round wounds, my new favorite is DR Black Beauties. They are nice and punchy and don't seem to die like uncoated strings.

Dunlop Super Bright Nickels sound zingy at first, but dull down beautifully once they get a little played in.

My two cents , DR high beams and EB super slinkys . The EB strings are always the same tone , no real variations pack to pack .

Thats how I feel too. I like the sunbeams most. Great for fretless.

DR's I used to love but, I was having trouble with them breaking on everything I put them on so I stopped using them about 6 years back. D and G strings breaking. Yes, I check my bridges on all the basses I used them on.
No, I am not a real slapper, popper. I see folks are using them alright. May need to give them another go.
