Your righteous indignation is misplaced.

Your first assumption is that people making jokes dislike the genre of music. I like metal music and I like good humoured jokes about it. There is much in life that I like and equally I like good humoured jokes about those things. Some of the best comedians across the World are successful because of their ability to make good humoured fun of that which we love the most. People on these fora even make fun of what is for most their greatest joy . . . playing bass!

Not all humour is enjoyed by everyone. So be it . . .

Hey, man. It's cool. I knew right away, he meant well but he just misunderstood that I was being a complete bonehead and this was in the humour section for a reason. A couple of common allegations thrown my way are as follows -

"It doesn't djent, Sixty. Leave it alone!"

"....Don't make it djent, Sixty. Put it down."

I love metal. I love funk. I love glam. I love punk. I love reggae. I love ska. I adore ska punk lol. I love reggae dub. I love Motown. I love new wave. We're gonna be here all night if I keep going. I'll shut up now

sorry to see you go. But I agree it makes me not want to post anything either. Thats part of the whole internet experience. I promise you would not spend one second hanging with that dude in real life. Here, we experience it all. Intellectual paper giants who literally know nothing, and quiet folks who could play Jaco under the table while singing.

Eh, dont sweat it dude. One guy doesn't like the joke, who cares. I think this thread is hilarious. I've joked it in. Im a diehard metalhead. I'll be at welcome to rockville the next few days watching metal bands. I've been in many metal bands. Im fully sleeved and wearing my black band t-shirt right now. I am metal. This thread is hilarious.

Brother, I read through everything that you said. I am going to admit that you make some great freakin points, and I do deserve to be called a dumba-- for this post. Dumdum was the word I used. You're right. It's stupid af. I'm sorry it peeves you. But I want you to understand two things.

- This is about tuners. Every tuner is the best tuner for *insert genre here*. The whole foundation of this in a bonehead post.

- I grew up on and *LOVE* heavy metal! It has been the one constant in my life. I mean, I am more into some subgenres than others and I am into a huge variety of music, but I would *never* want you to think I'd insult metal. For that, I feel extra dumdum.

Dude, you don’t apologize-I did not have the best day yesterday so sorry for channeling it into that post (As a bonus- I felt like a fool after I realized you posted this to the bass humor section -Lol-Apparently I can’t take a joke (or couldn’t yesterday)…

Metal is an absurd genre no doubt (and that is coming from someone who loves it)…

Apologies if I misdirected my ire at some other people who have mocked the genre in the past at you specifically -I have noticed a trend where it is somehow “acceptable “ to make fun of Metalheads on the main forum of this site and it puzzles me that this has become an accepted practice…

Considering most Metalheads were social outcasts in high school (like myself) I feel like it’s extra cruel to see people who like other genres “looking down” on others which is what I was alluding to…

Couldn’t find the quote but I remember hearing Rob Zombie interviewed a few years back talking about how if you don’t fit into certain social categories you are considered an outcast…He went on to say that he didn’t like being classified with the “leftovers” or the “freaks” in high school bc he wasn’t a jock and he wasn’t popular but eventually he realized that he didn’t fit in anywhere else so he embraced the counter culture of it all…

What I wish others would understand is that when people ask that question about “What’s the best bass for Metal”-If you’re playing Metal usually you are trying to make the most unholy/ungodly noises possible…

The reason people ask that question is that they are trying to make sure that the instrument is capable of making the sounds they want so they are drowned out by two downtuned g*tars and a drummer…

Besides-I would venture to guess that most people who ask that question don’t want “wimpy” bass especially in the pickups department…

I actually avoided Fender for a while bc ESP/LTD, Jackson, Schecter, and Ibanez have them schooled in the looks department and Fender’s instruments look kind of “Meh” by comparison…

As I’ve played more I realized that I actually like the sound of a P bass which is why I bought one last month…The reason I bought a P over a Jazz is bc I felt like it sounded a little bit more hostile than the J (aware you can tinker with effects and pedals for a J, but ultimately I went with the P bc I felt like it sounded angrier…

So-In short-Apologies if I misdirected my disgust for that question at you…

Rock on whatever you like to play…

…And I promise next time I will look to see what forum the post was in bc I feel like posting to the bass humor forum is a bit different…
