My Boss TU-3 has never let me down. It's also a mute pedal.
In fact, it's so good, I have several and have never sought anything else. If you have FOMO, that can be tough, but if you can find something that works for you and move on, it may be a great choice.

I agree with this and would add Peterson StroboStomp HD to the pedal list.
BUT… try changing the position and angle of your clip on to different parts of the headstock. I've found clip ons are temperamental and adjusting their locations and angles on the headstock can help. For Fender shaped headstocks I like it clipped on the bottom of the headstock, kind of between the A and D string pegs. They track terrible way out on the far tip of the headstock in my experience.
TC polytune is the best IME. It's in a metal/robust casing and the clip on mechanism can be re-tightened if needed. It's the only clip-on I kept.....I actually bought a 2nd, in spite of its' high price as compared to the junkers. That said, a good pedal tuner is still the most reliable option.
I use Soundcorset APP on my phone , I tried a clipon that was rated highest for 5 string but cant see it in sunlight and its incosistant . also the APP has a metronome !

Sonic Research is it for me. Best I've ever used, and by a mile. The Boss and Korg pedal tuners I had before worked OK but I wouldn't trust them for setting intonation on my guitars and basses. The Sonic Research handles that incredibly well.
It does the usual, pedal tuner stuff such as muting and it has customizable settings for specific tunings and instruments.
Bomb proof construction, made in the US and the fastest shipping on the planet are just icing on the cake. They really aren't much more expensive than the TC and they cost less than the Peterson. Worth the cost, and then some.
I've got three of the ST-200s and one ST-300 mini, all mounted on various boards. Never had a lick of trouble with any of them and I've had two of the ST-200s for over 10 years.

I've not had any issues with the Snark, but I have a Peterson Strobotuner as well. A bit more difficult to learn to use properly, but also more accurate.
I found the sweet spot for my Snark to be dead center at the end of the headstock. Don't let the inner hinge part touch the wood, just the clip pads. It will still jump around a little among alphabet letters but only a little.
I have a zoom but the snark is really convenient when I'm just using an amplug headphone amp thing.

I appreciate everyone chiming in. Looks like I may try to pick up a quality pedal tuner to try a different approach. Also may help with everyone playing around me to have a more isolated signal when tuning.
Lots of new stuff to check out Petersonstrobe, Sonic research, and the TC. Boss pedals in the past have caused tone loss for me sadly. I've seen some pro guitar players have them on their boards though.

TC PolyTune or UniTune clip-ons. They work as well and are as accurate as the PolyTune pedals and with the same display, but in a more covenient format. I use both for different applications, and the Polytune mobile app on my phone as a backup.
I prefer the Korg Pitchblack. It isn't as convenient as a clip on (Super Snark), but it is more accurate, it mutes your bass, and I have a problem with the esthetics of the tune clipped to the headstock.
Me too. The B3 tuner is really good, and it's already there. But I do own 2 Pitch Blacks, very good also.
StrobostompHD is pretty awesome. Tons of features I'll never use though. Still have my old Boss TU-2 kicking around and use it from time to time. For some reason I want a Waza TU-3, but I have no reason to spend for one.
I have a Snark clip on and am in the camp that it's fine in the house but I'd never use it somewhere important. Doesn't seem to work well enough for me and also looks dumb. Just one guys opinion.
