Best Way Huge Pickle?

Brand new forum member. I searched for previous threads - hopefully, I'm not asking something that's been addressed countless times before.

Looking to buy my first bass fuzz pedal. I've decided I want one of the Way Huge Pickle offerings, but wondering which one is the the best version. I've seen great reviews for the Russian Pickle, the Swollen Pickle MkIIS and MkIII versions. Ultimately, does it matter? Is there one version past or present that stands above the rest?

I have the Pork & Pickle which is their fuzz and overdrive in one pedal. Have had it for about a month now. Have been so happy with the overdrive sound I'm getting from it combined with my compressor & 2 tube preamp pedals, along with the gain & voicing sections of my amp (Mesa D-800+), that I haven't flipped the OD/Fuzz switch on it to fuzz yet.

Clark, thank you so much for your response. I'm teasing, but you were supposed to make the choice easier for me, eliminate an option, not add to my options! :) But seriously, I'll look into the Pork & Pickle - thanks for mentioning it.

Just curious, your signature line says Fender Jazz Bass Club #1554. What is that? I play a Fender Jazz myself, so I'm curious to know what the reference is. Thanks again!

Yeah I like my Jazz basses too...
Even the neck on the acoustic is Jazz spec'd, just in short scale. Glad Fender went that route with it.

I had the swollen pickle, and have the pork and pickle now. The swollen pickle to me was hard to dial in, and I lent it to someone who said there were pots under the cover who fooled with em and upon return sounded 1000% different almost synthy and I couldn't get it back and ended selling it. I love the p&p and has a smaller form factor..

What fuzz to choose is really about your taste and how the fuzz in question works with your setup. Just pick a place to start and buy a pedal. You’re likely to buy more as you figure out what you like and what works for you.

FWIW the Pork and Pickle is a great pedal, it’s very popular for a reason.

The Swollen Pickle MkII is what I have. I would get one of the other ones. Dialing it in proved very difficult. I now use a Stomp Under Foot Civil War, another Muff clone from a different company.

I would shop/compare the Russian Pickle vs EHX’s new Green Russian Muff pedal, which is very attractively priced.

I've been using the Pork & Pickle, and I love it - for both the Fuzz and the OD there's a really nice clean blend with it's own clean tone control. You can basically roll all the high end off your clean and just blend in the meat underneath the effect to thicken things back up.

Another vote for the Pork & Pickle - it's got a great sounding OD as well as a fuzz, you can flip between them with a toggle switch. It's got a clean blend and a clean tone control separate from the fuzz/OD tone control, which is great for maintaining some low end. I believe the pickle side of it is based on the Russian Pickle circuit.

The only drawback is that every time I think about it I get hungry for a Cuban sandwich.
