Best Youtube Bassist?

It's so hard to keep track because there are so many great musicians in this world.

As much as I amaze over someone who has chops to spare I also love the folks who remind me of McCartney. They don't overplay or underplay but they know what note to hit and at what time.

There's a lot to be said for simplicity when it's done well.

OK, I'll be "that guy"......Davidsinrocks on Youtube.....He's kinda young. Fine. He's an OK bass player.
Kinda sloppy. Timing isn't the best either (but who's is really).
And on the "jam" vids of his, he's doing pretty much nothing that countless guys here can do.
So, please, if there is a video I haven't seen, or something I'm missing, to put him and say, Marlow on the same level in anyway doesn't make sense to me.
You don't have to be chops galore, but I'm missing something.

I don't see it. And I pretty much went through most of what he has up.

Now, again, he's young. Been playing for what has been said a few years (2 maybe??).
So, impressive for that, but hardly anything out of the ordinary really.

I'm not trying to be a jerk. Really. I just need something for me to understand what the fascination is and why he's elevated like he is. That's all.

NO one thinks you're being a jerk you have your own opinion which we all can respect. I totally agree Marlowedk is a remarkable talent, but he isn't a kid. That is the reason I gave David my pick. He has true God given talent he can play many genres of music, not just RHCP, and in such a short period of time that is the important thing I am getting at Marlowedk has been at his craft for many, many, years. And maybe he was as talented as this kid at that time. Since You Tube wasn't around when he was a kid we may never know. I looked at the big picture this kid has many years ahead of him to grow as a player and for him to be as accomplished as he as in a year or two of playing I find impressive in my humble opinion

See, that I get.
At it a few years and he's playing something pretty decent.

But to elevate him to being on a level as say Marlow, he's not even close.
But remove the age content from all these guys and he's just another player of no special ilk.

Lot's of people believe David's a very good player. Maybe it's the passion he plays with? Maybe it's watching him have so much fun? Maybe he IS just that good because someone else believes he IS. Everyone has different opinions posted. Watch, enjoy and learn to embrace and respect the diffent opinions. It shouldn't require a total, "need something to understand" to enjoy this thread. There is no right or wrong answer when each of us is asked whom is "best". :cool:



Please take the time to listen ( and watch) this young man play. He's my choice. Is he the most technically sound? No....but I can still have that opinion because I feel he does more in his expression than many here can do with
2 functional hands! I'm humble enough that I can look up to him not because of his challenges but in spite of them. :hyper:

So I hope everyone would just continue to share and post positive examples. I'm sure there can be another thread for those who wanna bash David because he's talented, passionate, young and gosh darn it, people like him, lol. :spit:

For something that is meant to be light-hearted and fun, this is getting pretty heavy. With that if you feel offended by something I referenced, I appologize. On the contrary, I'm far from being on a soap box. That's the point I was attempting to make in my posting. There is no need for soap-box debate. Maybe I was wrong to attempt that.

I have read your re-read your post. I get where your coming from. Maybe some people just "favor him best." And in that sense maybe offer few examples of possibly why some people do feel that way. I can't know what you see or don't see. That's all. Again, let's just enjoy what we do post and share in the differences of opinion. :D *
