It simply does not sound good.
Never understood why guys practice 10 hours a day to sound like they just picked up the instrument?

Death metal is garbage, an a horrible genre for a bassist anyways. I need singing or even rapping in a song, but screaming/growling whatever that crap is, is unbearable
This video was a 4 out of 10 for me...
Can we have some sort of agreement that the bassist should be playing something melodic and inspiring? Not just slapping or playing fast.
this one ist really cool. normally im not so much into slapping and stuff, but he is great!
There are a million and one variations on the theme of death metal.
So far the only one I can stand is Melodic death metal. It has melody and is not written by people who think "lets see how fast we can play random notes and in general make noise". I like metal but cannot stand noise no matter how fast and technical it is or how many hours of practice it took to be able to play it! It gives metal a bad name.:scowl:
I think the main reason this music took off is because kids like stuff that's different from what there mothers and fathers listen too. These days many moms and dads listen to Iron Maiden for example (including myself) so new music has to be more shocking than what came before it.
I personally can't stand death metal in any form, especially the vocals.
What's gonna come next? you go on stage constipated and see what comes out?
This is why I appreciate young musicians who realize, when a song was written has nothing to do with how good it is. This is why bands like Sabbath, Maiden, Rush, Zep, the who, beatles, floyd, etc... will be selling music 1000 years from now.

an intimidating amount of talent posting on You Tube. Anyone seen the kid playing Mozart's "Rondo Alla Turca" (Turkish March) on a 5 string bass? If you haven't, it bears looking up.
The 'remarkable' talent out there amazes me. It humbles me, too! I'm an OK steak and potatoes bassist. I get a few compliments here and there and can play well within the context of a song as long as it isn't too demanding. Just when the head starts getting too big, I'll watch a Y.T. video to be brought down many notches.
So many great players to see and my favorite is still Marlowe!! Good heart to teach, as well..... for free.

+1 I'd take McCartney's overall talent and bass playing ability over anyone else. Not because he's the best, but because many of his lines are incredibly clever: whether they be simple, intermediary or complex.
Seems as though this thread has run it's course, lol. The conversation has turned from I like this bassist best because....to death metal is garbage, etc. I don't disagree with most comments here. Some just don't offer anything relating to why this thread was started. This thread feels like it's 5 months old already! Some people don't even offer anything but comments simply to lengthen the thread. Others post crappy bassist (by their own opinion 
) for what?
I'll post once again for those who didn't check out my choice, probably 100 post ago.
I feel music is about inspiration, as much if not, more than technique. If this guy doesn't inspire then I don't think anyone can. Maybe you agree with some or all of what I've said. Maybe you don't. Either way I respect all the choices offered. I'm glad I was able to see some bassist I might otherwise had missed out on.
