bestbassgear.com review

I've had no dealings with BBG but had a look at the site after seeing this thread. The section below has been put onto their contact page. Maybe this explains a couple of things...

"PLEASE READ THIS !!!

As of late, we have had certain emails continually 'bounced' back to us as undeliverable....in these cases, we receive the email, but you havn't received our reply.

If you sent an email and have not been responded to within 3 days, send an additional email with:

- your phone number
- time zone
- window of time to call.

We try to answer all emails daily (Monday-Friday), though occasionally we are unable to get to all of them. We take each inquiry seriously and will respond to you.

Only my opinion but don't be too hard on the guys - sounds like techie issues to me...

I had a less than good experience with bestbassgear. I would have called it downright terrible, except thier passion for good gear allows me to forgive the horrible customer service I recieved. I bought a pair of Delano pickups and the sonar3 preamp from them, as well as a couple of 3way toggle switches. I had a few good discussions with Max, who was very helpful in helping me select the pickups and preamp and options that would get me the variety of tones I was looking for, though I usually had to wait 3 days or so for an email response. After that, everything went wrong. My order did not get placed when we had decided on what to go with. I had sent them a check in the mail to pay for everything, which sat on someone's desk for two weeks. I had gotten no response from them in almost three weeks after finalizing my order and sending them my check. I was then told that they don't actually carry the pickups I want (even though their website said "we now have Delano pickups in stock), and it would be a further four week wait to get the entire package from Germany. They were apologetic when I expressed my clear dissatisfaction with this delay, as my Modulus is setting at Brown's Guitar Factory waiting to go under the knife, and I have bass tracks to record. They put a rush on the order, but once it came there were still problems. The treble pot for the 3 band EQ was supposed to be a very particular part offered by Delano, which wasn't what arrived. I was still able to get the options I wanted with what did show up, but with a little re-arranging of my plan of how the electronics would be laid out. Finally, the stacked knob I recieved could not fit the stacked mid/bass pot for my 3 band EQ. I will say, they readilly admitted their mistakes and have been as helpful as they could to make me happy. They do know their gear, for the most part. I did have to let them know that Delano offered the treble active/passive bypass pot that I asked for and never recieved, so they could be more knowledgable as far as what they offer. Also, be prepared to use a great amount of patience dealing with BestBassGear. They have many qualities, but in my experience, customer service was not one of them. I don't know if I will ever go through them again, to be honest.

I have ordered a Hipshot bridge from them, and it was showing in stock on their website. I waited a few days, and the order was still pending. I sent an email and got a reply that it will be filled in a few weeks because it is out of stock :scowl: really, and you let people order it. I liked the previous owner Brian much better, he or his wife would call me on my cell to tell me the status of my order. And bestbassgear, if you are ready this, stop sending me nice emails of how-tos and updates from your Facebook, and get a better grip on updating your website.

I've emailed these guys 3 times over the past week because I want to buy some stuff from them & had a couple of q's. No response to any of them.

Hi, I've got no response regarding my shipment, it's been 10 days since, it's suppose to arrive in 5 days, emailed them, called them, left message on answering service, nothing, no emails from them..... big disappointment, since I've heard they treat their customers seriously, bummer! :hmm:

I hate to add to this but must admit I bought many items through the years from them when Brian was there (and picked his brain many times on pickup/pre questions), but my last order was full of delay and just non communication. Placed the order on March 4th for an 'in stock' item, checked on the 24th if had been shipped yet, no reply so checked again on the 29th, finally a reply on the 1st stating still waiting for a shipment, then finally arrived a few weeks later.

I also place an order for an "in stock" item, paid for it and a week later was told that there would be a 4 week delay. This was after multiple emails that these were the cables that I needed and that they had them. Then the backorder email comes stating that "I'm sure you saw that it was back ordered" when it clearly said in stock on both my receipt as well as on the website. They screw up and then push it on me as if I overlooked it. That is just bad business and is the last time I will order from them.

So Brian isn't there any more? Hmm. I bought some stuff and had Brian install some stuff on my bass years ago. He did an amazing job. I haven't dealt with them for a while so I can't speak to the now.

A GoDaddy Email account can be the problem. My company manages not for profits and we communicate via Email for most of our contact with members. We have never been on a spam list but GoDaddy said we send out too much Email so they started bouncing Email back to us. I spent hours on the phone with GoDaddy and no one could tell me what the magic number was for the amount of Email you send before GoDaddy starts rejecting your Emails. I had to set up a couple of Email accounts with their products to make sure my Emails got to clients. IMO it is a big extortion racquet they are running.
