Better EQing vs. Buying A Different Bass?

Other threads where you mentioned spending adequate time on the setup.

I have mentioned making sure you have a setup you like. But if you have a bass that you otherwise like, that has a setup that's fine with you, and you know what you're doing technique-wise, AND you don't like the way it sounds without major tweaks...


Let's look at this one more time.

This was not about investigating possible sounds with a bass IMO, it was about being displeased with the basic sound of the instrument and getting another one instead of trying to fix what you don't like with EQ.

Let's see what sarcastic and hostile thing I said:

Again, what are you smoking? You don't see how odd your question was? Seriously? You still haven't addressed that elephant in the room.

If you could (and obviously did) read my post as clearly wrong as you did, anything could be taken as hostile and sarcastic. OTOH You could ask yourself could it also NOT be taken that way but like I said, I have no idea what set you off in the first place about my original comment that had absolutely nothing to do with you.

This is what i love and hate about bass shopping. Take 20 basses all built the same and one will just speak to you more then the others. You can see it in Ed's collection, its not like he went to the store and picked up the top of the line Jazz P Stingray etc. Every few years you find a bass that just works.

And to me those basses usually just work with no EQ or with lots of EQ. with an SWR or an Ampeg, into a mixing board or a marshall.

Now can I have the money back i wasted before i figured this out.
