Usually chat up the folks that have come out to see us. Check with a few buds just to make sure the volume and all the other little things that make up a live preformance are up to snuff. Tune my guitars make sure I have plenty of water for the next set then turn on the Rock and begin to Roll.

I don't drink alcohol but I always make sure to drop a few bills in the bar jar when I get a cup of water or something fizzy and I make sure the barkeep sees me doing it.

I havent had a bassist show up and talk gear since my last band broke up. My band now seems to mostly pull in chicks as well.

If playing covers in a bar is getting you down, get some musicians together and spend an afternoon playing something, anything, by Phillip Glass. After a few hours of that, you'll be happy to make a buck playing Mustang Sally.

Take a leak, grab a beer or 2, switch basses and tune (We do a set of standard tuning songs, then a set of half-step down songs which we need to keep half step down so the singer can hit the notes, then Drop D back to standard tuning).
