Between sets

Wait a minute -
you left, saw a patient, left the patient to go back and finish the gig, then went back to the O.R.? You rock, Dr. Bob.

Well, yeah. But it sounds cooler than it was. I needed to take the patient to the OR that night, but it wasn't like the stuff you see in shows like Grey's Anatomy. The patient didn't need to be rushed down the hallway, but it needed to be done within three or four hours. Besides the patient still needed some blood work, medical clearance and he had previously eaten too close to the time I saw him. I would have had to wait anyway, since there was already a surgery being done in the OR I was going to use.

It all worked out to my advantage time wise.

it probably took longer than usual to "scrub up" too since you had all that funk on ya... :eyebrow:

Between sets. After the First set I phone home to let the wife know I made it there okay, how the gig is going and find out if all the kids are home and okay. Than I have a non-alcoholic beer and work the crowd. The rest, between those maybe a glass of water sit with the band discussing how their weeks went since we do not see each other till the night of the show.

Might as well put this in this thread. Between the second and third set Friday, an illustration why image and attention-grabbing are important.

New member. After the second set I talk him into getting a glass of porter instead of a regular beer. So, he asks for it, bartender pours it, and then she tells him how much it costs. Ouch. An awkward "But... I thought..." later, the bartender realizes he's in the band and he gets the porter for free.

That should teach him to glue some flowers to his face next time, or something.
