BH2 replacement/ upgrade question...

Apologies if this has already been covered to death, but I was unable to find a clear answer.. I have an '18 Ibanez BTB740 with the Bart BH2's...have already ditched the factory pre for an Aguilar OBP-3, now looking to replace p/u's with something to get more upper end coloration. I understand the BH2's are some proprietary thing and Bart currently offers no direct replacement. However... who makes what that would be pretty much a direct 'drop in'? For example, it looks like the Aguilar DCB's (D-1) size wise are just a hair under and would work. Is that feasible, and are there any other suitable choices? Just looking for ideas here..

Actual Barts would be a fine choice (BH2 are not really Barts), something like MK5's if you want dual coil or they make singles and P pickups in that shape. So you can go dual coils, J/J, P/J, or P/P if you want.

Right, the BH2's are like some 'proprietary' thing they make specifically for Ibanez factory installations, as I understand it. I guess it's like anything- they're fine if they give you what you want. One of the options I thought of would be to put in Bartolini MK4CBC's which I have in another instrument...and like a lot.

Yeah the BH2's are made by some overseas company, I never understood why Bart even lets them put their name on them.

But yes I was thinking 5 string with the MK5's but since you actually have a 4 string the MK4CBC like you say would be the right model for dual coils.

How much did the Aguilar obp change your tone?
Did it open up the tone for the bh2?

It did improve the tone a bit... a bit brighter, more 'color'...but still not 100% happy with the BH2's....for me, still the weak link. Not sure it was worth the added $$, but that's just me. Sold the instrument, have moved waaay on....
