finally (finally) got around to getting my modded 26 auditioned by our lead g**tarist. I popped out the mids and swapped the 6s for eminence 620H’s. Typical pedalboard through a tiny Orange head. Only a small rehearsal room, but wow, sounded great! Hope an opened up demo can happen soon. Cheers.

Do you know if Mike, solely, will be building the cabs or if the Big E folks/facility will be handling some of that, too? Last I talked to Mike about it (which was awhile ago), I got the impression that he would build some specialty stuff here and there, but that a more standard line would be built by others. That could have changed, of course.

Kind of you -- I enjoyed sharing.

There are a lot of great cabs out there (I like my AK Hathors, for instance) and I don't think any one cab or line of cabs is the best at everything, but Mike's cabs are unique in my experience.

The only MAS cab I have now is my OG, 3-way MAS 112 with the 18Sound woofer. Been awhile since I had it out, partly due to recent events and partly because, where I've played, lately, and been able to take a rig, something smaller was called for.

I still haven't played anything to equal it, though, for monitoring and house coverage (well, not near its size -- the 210 Flex Mod beat it for house coverage) in a busy mix in a loud club. I recall, more than once, walking around, listening to other people play through my rig, and the sound from my cab, sans PA, was more even and clear out in the house than everyone else, through a substantial PA. When I did get a lift from the PA, that cab, for whatever reason, seemed to fight it less than anything else I'd used, too.

The voicing and feel of that particular version of the MAS 112 (kind of lean-and-mean, with very little inherent "cushion" in the way notes start and stop) isn't for everyone, but it worked well for me. As I've said before, it needs a little room -- both literally, in terms of space, and figuratively, in terms of being able to open up the volume at least a bit -- to leverage its strengths, but it's pretty cool when you can. Loved it outdoors and in louder clubs.

I don't think I'll ever get tired of firing up my Reeves and hearing the twin Bodai tens. I just took the B28 to a funk band rehearsal. The power and tone of the bass - magical.

When I do, I also get to hear my keyboardist playing through the 1,8 that I originally bought for living room use. It sounds leagues better than the janky Peavy monitor that she'd been using.
