You're right, black is most common, look at Berg, Mesa, Marshall, et al, usually the grill or logo is the identifier, but I wonder if any folks don't buy Orange becasue of the color?
But you do make a point. Some people don't want any attention going to backline gear at all. There is a post by J.Wolf with a photo in the middle of page 31 showing the cab in-situ, the red is not as prominent as that close-up pic shot in the living room.

Yes that was my pic, and my comment about it. I agree that the close up living room pic makes It look red with a capital R. Hanging out with mike and looking at it, it doesn't look as red, since the outside of the enclosure is black.
I guess my position is that I wouldn't make it a default color scheme, but a cool option, especially for the sake of branding, which for a product so unique is sort of a non-issue. Nobody Is going to confuse these with something else, and many prefer the more traditional look on stage. This was partly why I went with full face grilles, because it tones down the unconventional appearance just a bit. I want it to sound great, but I don't always want people saying "what in the hell is that??!" Unless they're bass players or are gear oriented in general. Just my .02c

It's a very cool thing that Mike will do the customization. I asked for the full grille on my MAS112 build, too.

I like the look of the full grill, but I like being able to grab my cabs by the ports more...I'm also a clean freak, and it would kill me to take the grill off every time I dust them.

I love the red/black, myself - obviously.
Markbass has its yellow. Orange has its, well... orange. It doesn't seem to have hurt them. The curmudgeon option is a nice fall-back.

I dig the two tone red too, it's really hip and unique.
MAS aside, whether markbass or orange's sales has been impacted by their aesthetic choices is debatable. I think a lot of guys won't give those cabinets a chance just based on looks alone, whether they admit it or not, or are even conscious of it

I'm selling a few pedals and did not have an up close shot, just a rig shot. So I posted that pending better pictures today. I got a comment about the rig and thought I would share my reply here as I feel it comes closer to capturing how I feel about the rig than some of my other ramblings.
That's a good way to put it. It's like nothing I've ever heard. It seems to breath the air out of the room as it wraps sound around my whole body. I can feel my pant legs moving 10' in front of it. MAS Big E. Drink the cool aid. It's in that special class of gear that makes you wanna play better. My playing has taken on a few nuances that I just never heard or felt on my other rigs. I could not be happier with the rig. I am still searching for my perfect pedal board...

Excellent descriptions of the MAS/Big E playing experience! I haven't been turning that nice Ciare tweeter on lately, but I continue to be amazed when hearing and feeling the sound generated by the one 10" and two 5 1/2" speakers in my Flex. 
Can't wait until mine (red interior) is done. Just last night, the guitardist told me to turn down with my present rig. I'll fix him....bwa ha ha....
Funny thing is--- you actually will play quieter. Of course you can crank it, but my experience is that the band and pa guys are thrilled in that I play at a lower volume.
They are working on guitar rigs, you know. Mixed feelings about that. Should be nice, to have a guitar rig that can be clear and easily heard by the guitarist without being super loud, but a rig that can go louder, lower, also gives guitarists that much more latitude to sin. And guitarists are sinners by nature. Mostly, I just don't like the idea of not having a leg up on them in the arms race. I guess it will still come down to diplomacy, in whatever form that takes for you!
("Armed conflict" is not indicative of my view of or preferred approach to music -- it's just hard, sometimes, you know? As in many things, one has to fight the same old battles again and again.)

I was thinking 1x3" would be plenty. Should guitar cabs be a regulated substance?Haha. I'm all for the BigE guitar 1x4 cab.

Here is a funny thing I have experienced with the 46 lately. I eq and set my volume for the mix, don't wanna be a star, just want to hear the bass in the mix. I Like hearing someone come up and say, "nice walking bass lines" or similar. That's all I want. Then the simple recording device used for gig or jam/rehearsal records an overwhelming bass heavy mix. When we are playing I turn up just enough to be "In" The Vortex however makes me the overbearing element in the song. "I might be superstitious but there's really somethin goin on down there"
