I can tell tell you how much I love my 46!! It's a crazy ass cab! The more power I pump into it the more it opens up! It's a lively articulate muscular little cab with a Napoleonic complex.I'm hearing things from my bass that wasn't possible with other cabs.

I'm not a pro player. I get together with some friends on a regular basis and have fun. My band mates all agree the 46 is one bad ass cab!

After the missed delivery-go-round with the white truck, the 26 is here. Unfortunately, my schedule has conspired against its audition. Tonight fer sure. Mike did a great packing job, and the box arrived w/o blemish.

The 8.5" dim is crazy!

You must be the ultimate zenbuddhistsenseipowerofnow or stoner of the century. You decide. Your patience is incredible. If I could just ooohm like you, all this equipment stuff would be powerless to control my psyche ever again but of course I can't control that which controls me, and I don't understand how you have shirked or shucked the binds, (or bonds) or .. Now where was I... Oh yeah, how the hell can you be eligible for delivery a few days ago, and went for a drive in the rain instead! I hate you sane people! I cling to my next insignificant delivery of strings or bargain basses or whatever, as if it may be the second coming of well you know, James or Jaco or. Anyway I commend you on your perspective, and I would be tryin to keep that wonderful relationship the first priority, Damn I shoulda married a chef! I do most of the cooking. (Mike too?) Anyway you already know exactly how it will sound.
See you in BCreek with Kesslari's Flex? Will be very cool.:D

+1. I have a 46 here to audition and put through it's paces. Mike called and asked me to add Steve's wacky thing. Big improvement. I'm listening to these from a PA perspective, and that thing just cleaned up the mids, made an excellent cab into an outstanding one. My reference recording had a bit of bloom before in the upper mids before, absolutely none after.

The direct fired mids and tweeters are not as "vortexy" as my PA cabs, but the sound is amazing, and the difference is pretty minor. Far better than my original 46 PA cab, with way more bottom end. With some tweaks, and a sacrifice of bottom end for sensitivity, this configuration will become a PA cab down the road. Way down the road though, several months.

And to Mark---the first of the new 46's out there---if you want to send the cab back at some time I'll add the new thing-a-ma-jigee no charge. All of the ones going out this weekend and next week will have it. That's what delayed me this week from getting the current ones out.

It was an other case of the Big E guys telling me to try some weird new tweek and me thinking "there's no way this can do anything."

The cool thing is that they are approaching the whole loudspeaker cabinet design from a new perspective utilizing disciplines from other areas of science.

The new tweek apparently "regulates the pressure in the driver area". What is does is smooth the frequency response and offers greater clarity in the midbass to lower midrange area.

No---we've tested it on the 6's and the 10's. I'll be trying it on the 45's.

I asked Steve and he said it was cool for guys with existing cabs to get and install them. You just have to remove 2 drivers. The only tool you'll need is a stubby phillips screwdriver.

Couple of bucks for parts plus shipping. The cool thing is that if you don't dig it--a couple of minutes to remove.

Everything in the MVW cabs is based on air movement and pressure. This helps equalize the pressure in the driver chamber which yields a more consistent air flow.

It does not work in everything. I tried in my GC25E PA boxes and it took the life out of them. My guess is it's dependent on driver chamber volume. The bigger the cab or driver the better it works. It also worked really well in a monster prototype 210 line array cab I'm working on. That's where we tried it first.

I would be surprised if it helped the 45 or the 25. As usual in MVW land, it depends. Even though the basic alignments are the same, what works with one size does not fit all.

Awesome - very cool tweaks, and right where I would have zeroed in as well but I admittedly have a particular sound in mind. The relentless pursuit of "better" (I try to avoid using the "p" word).

No it didn't. I'm making another 26 and will try it. As Leland says it varies with the internal volume. On his 25's it wasn't good. But---my 25's and 45's are larger (more air volume) and obviously my 45 has a lot more air volume than his 25.. I'm making a bunch of 45's in the next few days and I installed it on one. If it makes enough of a difference in the 26 I'll send you one---not too hard to install. Haven't you fired it up yet?

An offset screwdriver makes installation easier. They're pretty cheap.

Mike, I swear 6L6 are magic with your cabs. I brought them out today and blasted them with my newly acquired Peavey 120/120. It sounded amazing no matter what I did. It was articulate, punchy, and totally surrounded me no matter where I was in my very node-y basement. My TC118 resonates my entire house on B (~62 Hz) no matter what I do and the Big E just don't, no matter where I stand.

Attach new do-hickey to the phisterous, via the 2 buck offset screwdriver. I can do this! I built a 1515/66 after all.
Course I had to have a pro do the crossover. Damn solder never melted right for me.:scowl:
Must be tough to be Mike right now. Everyone who has an older cab wants the new do-hickey. Me too for the older 4x8 if recommended by the masters.
Note to Coyoteboy. You almost pulled me in for another wine, (whine), rant with that takin a drive so I ain't gonna play it yet post. :) I love what the mad scientists are doing.
