Bigger... fatter... more boom... boost pedal

I've got a 1984 DOD FX10 and a 3Leaf LBB on the way. Hopefully one of them will do the trick and be a keeper. One or both will be in the classifieds otherwise.

DOD FX10 arrived. Wow this thing puts out serious booty. Might be just what the doctor ordered. Need to give it more time and try it live. Weird pedal though. The LED on these old DODs are always on I guess but flash once when you stomp off. First reaction is you don't need a lot of boost. The volume knob at 10:00 is plenty.

Going to compare it to the 3Leaf LBB that should be arriving tomorrow.

Can anyone explain what the DOD FX10 is/does? I guess I always thought it was just a boost but it is getting some good praise here.

I had one of these for a while:

It's clearly meant to be always on! I'm a home studio guy, and I loved the tones (plenty of low end). I sold it when I thought I wanted a tone shaper with a bunch knobs and switches. But this is definitely one of those "secret sauce" pedals (well, technically not a pedal). DOD reissued it (sort of) with a stomp switch; I haven't tried this newer version:

I'm not FilterFunk, but at least the buffer on/off -switch.
I haven't tried the 410, so I can't say for sure, but Juan from Pedals and Effects said the 410 wasn't as good as FX10. After using the FX10 for a while I kind of see the point of having a buffer switch. FX10 seems to dull your sound a bit. I don't know if others have the same experience?

Well I guess my FX10 has issues since the LED is always on but it sounds great. But so does the 3Leaf Little Black Box I received yesterday. Hoping to have more time with both this weekend.

I haven't tried the FX10; just the vintage 410 with no foot switch.

The DOD FX10 sounds best. The LBB is great too but the DOD is just magic.

IME it's hard to beat the Xotic Bass RC Booster for this, but I also think the TC Spark Booster is a worthy candidate.

The BiFet is ideal for this, mine is always on. I have a Dunn Siegebreaker which is s BiFet and I think a DOD 250 circuit. It's grinndiest, heaviest pedal I've owned.

Pigtronix philosopher bass comp, has a grit switch to give it a tubey gritty fat sound, really nice compressor for not much money compared to others. As far as octaves 3 leaf is amazing analog octaver and I'm really happy with the tc eltronic sub n up, Poly or analog settings and the TonePrint you can do anything with it. Highly recommended.

Speaking of Three Leaf...(they are hard to find) but I have one of his little black boxes...and they really do the trick
