How well does the octamizer work with a 5 string bass?

I use an Octamizer for adding girth, but since it is generating an octave below, I rarely play anything below an open A to avoid driver damage. My Mesa D800+ has a HPF built into it, so I have some protection...

The Octamizer's filter control provides adjustment between thick and synthy; combined with the independent dry/effect signal level controls, this unit can go from subtle to balls-out. They do appear in the classifieds on occasion.

Pigtronix philosopher bass comp, has a grit switch to give it a tubey gritty fat sound, really nice compressor for not much money compared to others. As far as octaves 3 leaf is amazing analog octaver and I’m really happy with the tc eltronic sub n up, Poly or analog settings and the TonePrint you can do anything with it. Highly recommended.

Below F#? As well as any other octaver...which is not much. However, its tone was just what I was looking for in a P&W setting. While my MXR BOD cuts through awesome, the Octamizer is able to give me an incredibly fat and rich tone that the MXR just doesn't put out. If you want to go down to low-B or A, perhaps consider lowering the clean signal below that of the octave and just play higher. I've done this for choruses and have really come to appreciate this pedal.

I recently bought a MXR 10 band Eq. Set flat it adss a nice volume boost and ads fullness. Reasonable priced and can transform any dull signal.

Sounds to me like a job for an EQ or clean preamp, my go to for this is my Submarine since I have an Ictineo at the end.

I use the new MXR Booster for exactly what you describe. It’s an echoplex pre and micro amp in a small box, and gives a nice round tight bottom end boost while sculpting the highs nicely. Nearly neutral, no distortion, but with that extra something special around it.

+1 to this. It also has fat switch that you might interested in.

Thirds on the full size TC Spark. Fat switch, plus you can dial in more bass/less treble with the 2-bands EQ. You can push the gain knob pretty far before you hear any sort of grit. Even then, you can roll it back a bit and boost the volume to get that fatness. It's cheap and simple, too.

I've never played it, but I'll bet the Moog Minifooger MF Boost would do the trick. I have the MF Drive and it does what you are looking for with the gain at 0. They were just discontinued, but you can pick these up used pretty easy.

Something that creates instant fatness, fullness, and "boom" without sucking the life out of my tone. Not a synthy dubby type pedal like the Meatbox. I was thinking maybe the Xotic RC Booster or Fultone Fatboost with Bass knob turned up a fair amount? Any other recommendations?

Henretta Emerald Prince. Inspired by the preamp section of the Echoplex EP-3 preamp, it simply makes everything better without adding mud or extreme, unwanted clarity. It's something that's always on in my rig. Very simple layout. It might be what you're looking for.

I'll go one step further and recommend it's big brother, the SCR-DI with the Ultra-Lo engaged. It'll add some low-end character in a heartbeat without getting muddy or stupid. You don't have to use the Scrambler OD but it does come in handy.

I use this kind of effect a lot and often end up leaving them always on.

Way Huge Pork Loin. It does do OD, but it can be used as a 'fat boost' if the OD is set low. Works beautifully for me

Beat me to it. Also quite affordable. Simple layout with a level and tilt EQ, so you can boost highs or lows. Works perfect for my guitar board to make solos pop a little more, couldn’t think of a reason it wouldn’t do the same on bass.
