Honestly? Scott Devine.
I'd lost interest in P basses before I started watching those videos. Now I want 6.
Whoever played on this masterpiece:
Thanks. Seriously though, I'd begun to view P basses as uncreative and a bit square. In my mind, I know. I really like the way Scott "wears" his; he adds a freshness to the P bass "thing" in my mind. This is an excellent outside-the-box answer.

Amazing musician. I’ve heard Nathan East and others cite Peter as being an influence. I wish I could sing like him!Yea, he had a great voice, cheezed out and made millions being a solo artist. But, I love me some old Chicago with Peter Cetera. Classic P with flats and a pick sound. Funk, Jazz, Rock, he could do it all...well.

Who inspired you to P?

Lots of great P'ers ...
Who inspired you to P?
I'm only looking with my ears regarding that album. Could have been a '51 P but it sounds like a classic split P.I thought Wilton used a Tele bass? Same thing really!
He’s got to be one of the baddest cats ever. “I Want You Back” by the Jacksons, if you can play that smooth you’ve earned a gold star imho.
Robert "Pops" Popwell.
Such a monster... Always wanted to sound like him. But...
