Biggest P inspiration?

Not an inspiration but this poster was up in my local guitar shop were I lived back in 1986/87. I was fixated by this battered & worn Precision bass so much so, I asked if I could have the poster when they took it down. Still love the look of this Precision.

With that much gear, you’d hear yourself alright..!

It may have been, I remember reading an article years ago about it, he said flat wounds but maybe they were tape wounds.

When I first started playing P basses were by far the most common basses on recordings (1967) but I bought my first P bass brand new in 1970-71 because of the 2nd Grand Funk album, the red cover with a Fender bass prominently pictured, the only thing is it was a Jazz bass and I didn't know the difference. I'm glad I bought the P bass though, I've owned and played a lot of different basses since then but when I pick up a Fender Precision it is like going home to me.

Yea, he had a great voice, cheezed out and made millions being a solo artist. But, I love me some old Chicago with Peter Cetera. Classic P with flats and a pick sound. Funk, Jazz, Rock, he could do it all...well.

Peter is a wicked player, I wish I could pick like him, he definitely inspired me.

That P pickup is quite far from the traditional location.
