Biggest string disappointment ever - whats yours?

DR Jonas Hellborg Signature Strings.
I really tried to like these. They felt good to me - I liked those big fat windings. I tried them on three very different instruments, and couldn't get excited about them.
Just as someone else mentioned, many don't like my go-to strings - DR Black Beauties & Fat Beams, EB Cobalt Rounds. That is why there are so many choices in the marketplace.

I've never had luck with roto66 or EB strings. My last set was the EB hybrid and the E dudded out the 2nd day. Although years ago I would buy cheap stuff to stay afloat, lol.
I recently switched to the Darkhorse strings and so far, I think they're awesome. Still sound brand spankin new after a week of hard playing. The owner guy explained to me that theirs are wrapped on a hex core to keep the tension and tightness of the wraps longer. I don't know all the scientific specs with them but so far I think they're pretty good.

GHS Boomers- My pickups did not like them
RotoSound SwingBass 66. Strings came 'grey' out of the package. ***?
Dunlop- Generic and went dead in two days.
I make almost any set of strings dead in less than a week or two, that's just me though.
Oh yeah, and a $60 pair of Flats....yeah, never again.

D'Addario Half Rounds were a disappointment for me, I was expecting something a bit brighter than a flatwound but the difference was negligible. OTOH, Ken Smith Compressors are my current favorites.
TI Jazz Flats. Tried them because of their rabid cult following. Ended up hating them with a red hot passion. I love TI strings on upright (using Superflexibles), but I hate them on electric.
Was it a tone issue or were they too flexible? I have been wanting to try them also. I tend to have a heavy right hand and am concerned with the tension or lack there of with these strings.
The low tension was great, but I thought they sounded too much like rounds, they never went the least bit dead after 4 months, and they felt like they were rolling under my fingers, which I hated.
Any Rotosound string, especially the 66.
Sticky/rough feel every time, I've tried them more than a couple of times in the hopes that is was just a bogus set made late one Friday at quitting-time.
They were not particularly lively or full sounding either.
Before some tool jumps in and says, "duh, round wounds are supposed to be rough," by rough, I meant the strings had a gritty feel, not created by the windings, but rather the surface of the metal.
Also, I second the D'Addario Half Rounds. They turned out the be the worst of both flat and round.

Roto flats? Tried them once...eh...didn't hate them, didn't love them. I usually use Chromes when I use flats, except on my short scale basses, which have LaBellas because D'addario would never make a Chromes set in short scale with my wuss extra light gauges.
I'd have to say GHS Boomers. They feel and sound amazing for a week, but then the tone dies. Unless you're able to change them often, I don't reccomend them.
Ernie Ball Slinkys - broke two G-strings in a row, on two different gauged sets (on an Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay). Said to self, "never again". That's when I went to D'Addario all the way around, and haven't looked back.
It wasn't on a bass, but I bought some cleartone premium coated strings one time from a suggestion by this guitar repair guy who had supposedly been BB King's guitar tech at one time and I had him set up my guitar and everything. As soon as I got it home I plugged it in and played a chord and the B string snapped. I took it back to the guy and told him what happened and had him out on a different set of strings. I was very disappointed. And I also never went back to that guy again even though it probably wasn't his fault.
Do you hate them overall, or just the fact that they have a short life? If they lasted longer, they would be my favorite strings.
The feel and tone mostly. Tone wasn't to my liking as far as how it accentuated the high mids. Feelwise, bouncy and pliable but not easy to work with.
My own opinion obviously!
