Rotosound strings. They sound great at first but die in 2 weeks or less. Dr lo-riders are my string of choice now. Flats aren't bad on the right bass. I like them on my stingray classic.

Biggest string disappointment ever - whats yours?

Come to think of it, I tried Chromes on my formerly owned Fender MIJ 51 P. Stiff as all get-out! If I ever experiment again, it will probably be with TIs'.

Mine have consistently been D'Addario. Regardless of type. Every couple years I'll try them and again and it's always a wash. They bring absolutely nothing to the table for me.

GHS Brite flats, the worst of both worlds.
2 Weeks or less? Yep. They aren't for you.
I make it about 3 months with roughly 2 hours a day of playing. I use their Funkmaster set.
in the far past - rotosound swing bass 66. was stiff and died very quikly..
nearer past - elixeir.. didnt like the feel of the coating and it peeled aftersome time and looked ugly. but i like elixier string for "regular" guitars
the last disapointment - daddario flexsteels - becouse i like prosteels very much and have high expectations.. but didnt lile at all. far less flexsible than the prosteels..

Funny, I have had great luck with the Black Beauties keeping the tone for a month between string changes!
They held tone well, no complaints there. But couldn't tell you how many times I "played it til my fingers bled" with those strings on. Never had any strings tear my fingers up like those black beauties.

Same here. I have had a set on my Schecter for over two months and they sound great. Only gripe I have with them is the black is already wearing off on the E and A string where I pluck them. I am a fairly aggressive finger style player though.
I don't find them any worse than other rounds I have used.
When I was in college, I had little money to spend on string experimentation. Despite this, the D'Addario half round set lasted less than 10 minutes on my bass before I trashed them and re-installed the dead XL170's.
I didn't even bother plugging in to give them a listen because they felt so rough, stiff and clunky.
yeah the coating does start to wear out... Dunlop sent me out some superbrights to check out badass check them out

I put TI's on my Sting P and they are a perfect match I'll probably try Chromes again because in my opinion so much depends on the bass being used.

not Without a doubt, despite their popularity here, I was very disappointed with Fender flats, the two times I tried them. The first time, the E string unwrapped itself the second I cut it to length, the second time I tried them I got them properly installed, but I found them to be rough and they looked and felt almost unfinished, and I really did care for the tone.
