Yeah, all the numbers I cited are only what I've been told- the hill is crazy steep though. Lots of false summits- *oh, this is it- no.. OK, here.. NO?* It whoops a man.

Good Lord...an early Iditabike!
A tip for that tip ; Be sure you have the water bottle and not the Cytomax bottle !!!!it's nice to be able to douse your head. Another lifesaving tip: A well-aimed squirt of water will give you an extra half-second when Cujo attacks & is harmless.

That's why you buy a small bag and pack tight...I've got a tube, tire levers, a fast-patch kit, and a small multi-tool in one of these. These are narrower than the Flites they're strapped under. The noise of tools shaking in an under saddle bag REALLY annoys me !
I didn't know Salsa made one too. They're using the Surly tires though.

That is a valid thought, but also keep in the back of your mind that pro-lvl frames usually only need to, and are only expected to, survive one stage or race, and even then there's a team car back there somewhere with five more bikes on the roof...just in case...There's something comforting knowing that my bike and components have been used at full blast by the pros.

Componentry is another story tho, and I also do enjoy knowing that my stuff has already survived pro abuse.
