Has anyone listened closely to his playing with Elvis Presley in the 1950s? I was listening to some live songs on Ed Sullivan with standup bass, and it sounds like some pretty wild stuff.
It's as if he had more freedom on the stand up bass. But I've never listened closely to players like this before. I feel like maybe after the electric Fender came on the scene, that kind of Rock and roll bass playing may have become more simple and refined.
