Birdsong Club Pt 2

Hi everyone, just here to drop a note that Birdsong's computer is down, no updates last, this & possibly into the next week or two. And since that's where all the pictures & photo software are, I can't send pics. Hang tight, we're on it. Meanwhile thanks so much for the kind words. If you're concerned or need an update, I'm back up on email & the phone works just fine! :) Get in touch & I'll get back with you as soon as I can. ~Scott

I was wondering what happened! Usually plop into my computer chair on fridays after work and birdsongguitars.com is one of the first places I check. Was odd to go 2 weeks without an update :) Let us know if you need anything, I'm sure I'm not the only computer geek in the club that could help!

My Cortobass arrived last Thusday and I've hardly put it down. Nice to look at and even nicer to play. At the moment it is the homepage photo at Birdsong's website.

Mahogany body with Macassar Ebony for the center piece, the control panel and the headstock overlay. Ebony for the volume controls. I can go on and on about how cool this axe is but it's all been said before. so here's a few pictures.

Does this get me a number in the Birdsong Club?

acleex, thanks for moving my post over here!

I talked to Scott about ordering a bass and he suggested that I reach out on the web if I wanted to play one this far from TX. So that's what I'm doing. Hope to hear from some of you--whether it's about Birdsongs, or if you've had similar issues.

I just sent Scott some gig and gear sale cash. She's now just over 2/3rds paid for, so something should start happening soon! :cool: This Sadhana will also have a matching headstock overlay.

Hi J,

I own the first ever Skyrider. For at least the next several months, it's the only Birdsong I own. If you do some digging in Pt. 1 of this thread, you'll see my story on how this model came about. As far as the sound goes, the pickups and wiring configuration are the same on the Corto, Sadhana and Skyrider. The 2 volumes + the varitone allow me to dial in any sound I need. I mostly try to sit in the mix as the foundation--heard but not overwhelming. My bias on the bass is towards warm and fat. At the same time, it only takes a quick turn on the varitone and the volume knobs to get a more aggressive tone.

From my conversations with Scott, the Skyrider is a little wider across the lower bout than the Corto or Sadhana. Mine is about 13" at it's widest point. I don't have a scale here at the house, but I would guess the Skyrider weighs 8 lbs. or less. Finally, the balance is perfect.
