Anyone notice the changes to the birdsong home page?

Mesquito and jazz guitar pages no longer linked, instead there's a "Luthier's special builds" page where it says those might return as well as other unique builds... I like it!

Also, I wonder if Scott got any takers for other companies to manufacture basses based on the Hy5 design- though I'm sure I'd rather have one carved by the bearded dude himself ;)

I have a Mahogany Corto and am thinking of having a Maple Corto made.

Can anyone tell me the difference in sound between the Mahogany and Maple bodies.

From what I understand the Maple will have a tighter and better defined sound. What I would like to know is, has anyone actually heard the difference between the woods in the Corto???? And can you please comment?????

Hello members of the Birdsong Club. Please allow me to apply for membership as I have purchased the Mesquito #004 pictured on the Birdsong site inventory page. (see insert) Reading the comments in this and other threads as well as user reviews on H/C had a marked influence on my purchase.

Thanks.

Nice! How do you like it? How does it sound? I think it's one of the instruments that aren't sound sampled on the birdsong CD...

We are in the process of having our physical address redefined by the 911 Emergency Response Commission so I have asked Scott & Jamie to hold it until Fedex and UPS have been notified. Our UPS driver could not find his own butt if he started out with both hands in his back pockets and I do not want to have to search the country for this bass. I am hoping to have it shipped in the next week or two. When I get it I will submit a sound report. Maybe I can upload a sound bite derived from my Zoom recorder.

etoncrow - AWESOME - I got a chance to play Mesquito #2 and have been playing my walnut fretless cortocustom almost exclusively of late. I envy you the hot Lace pickup.

You're #21 - BLACKJACK!

Maple should be brighter, but not as warm.

Rick's have maple bodies, and from what I've read, its a pretty big contributer to their sound.

I dont think the difference would be THAT substantial.

Did you ever get your mesquito etoncrow?

I just placed my order for a maple Corto with Lace pickups and gold hardware. It's also going to have a surprise feature which I won't reveal until after it's finished.

I've never owned a bass that wasn't traditional looking, so this will be a first.

Gold hardware just seems a bit much.

Hey Ben, i just read about your medical bills and bass sale. Hope all goes well with everything, and I'm thinking positive on your lucky #s to be able to pay for all the bills and start your next collection, Happy Easter!

Sorry to hear some of your Birdsongs will go, but I'm sure they'll fall into great hands and we can see them again here "at the club!" :)
