Question boys:

I have never used the kinda strap pegs Scott puts on his basses. What do you guys think of em? I was considering asking Scott to put straplocks on mine... should mI bother? Scott likes the pegs he uses... What do you think? Help me out, fellas...

I find that occasionally i line up the line in the strap with the "cross" in the T, and off comes the strap :) Usually the one near the bridge... And ive tried rotating them 90 degrees - it's like my strap rotates sometimes when im putting it on or off, and sooner or later it lines up... I'll probably replace them with strap locks (on my cortobasic, it came with "traditional" round pegs and i just put those locking circular "clips" on there so there's no way that strap is coming off.. but my sadhana and cortocustom have the T's)...

That's just my experience and I might be doing something wrong... :) (or maybe the straps i use have slits that are too wide)

I say get the straplocks - if just because it lets Scott place them differently if they should be in a different spot than the Gripper Ts would otherwise be (I don't know if that's necessary - I know the recessed straplocks required advance notice because of drilling and finishing.

Get a good, all-leather or cloth (no metal or plastic adjustment clips) strap (nice and soft) and the recessed straplocks and never take the strap off, so you don't have to worry about what to do if you forget a strap and have no strap pegs.

I heard stanley clarke just gets a big screw and a washer and *permanently* attaches his straps to his basses... Now *that's* not gonna fall off... ;)

I use Planetwaves 3" bass straps on all my basses. On my Laklands which do not have strap locks I went to Lowes and bought a $0.15 cotter pin that looks like a bobbie-pin on steroids and slipped it on the strap button after the strap. It works great. The strap has never come off by accident.

All my basses have the simple Levis leather suede straps. Brown on the Epi Viola and Applause AE-40, Black on the Black "Anti-beatle"... I keep thinking I want some wacky strap, but always go with the simple. Probably will on the Corto too.

I think I am just gonna get the standard Gripper T's. I never take my straps off anyhow. I will likely go get some washers and permanently affix all my straps. So there we go.

For those who remember my friend Levi and his two stolen Birdsong guitars - no, they haven't turned up again, but his replacement Birdsong is underway. The shape is one of Scott's new guitar prototypes (for bigger players) and the wood has been picked. The shape will be "less out there" than the others were, but the wood selection/glue-up is going to be more ornate (stringer AND top - so the stringer will only be visible from behind).

All basses must prepare to bow before 8C-123. The most gorgeous bass of all, when it is finally revealed in picture on the Great Makers Website.

All basses throughout Bassland will quiver with envy at its true beauty and sound. I know it is so, because it has been told to me by the Great Bass Spirit.

Of course he could be wrong, in which case it will just be another run of the mill gorgeous Birdsong Bass.

Every parent always thinks his child is the best looking and brightest, and in his parents eyes he is.

I've never seen a Birdsong that is not beautiful.
