Yup. Lotsa emails and phone calls back n forth... Just talking with Scott on the phone is a blast... You can tell they love doing this. Generous with their time, and want to make YOUR bass YOURS. Beautiful. My bass (8C-117... MY bass) is within weeks away rather than months now... I cannot get over the way the woodgrain in my Corto (MY Corto... 8Cc-117...) exploded when the oil hit it... I have my first gig in a month... Hoping it will be here by then, but trying to be patient... :help: lol

Let me add something else....

Scott and Jamie's attitude carries over beyond their own shop - it's either a.) infectious or b.) attracts those of at least similar temperament. Aside from Ben (who've I've e-mailed with for years and spoken with by phone once, and Mitch, who I've met in person once), I only know y'all from this forum, but from what I can tell via this limited context, it's a true honor for me to get to interact with ALL of you. Even just the people who are interested in the basses enough to post a question or two. Truly an honor.

I like the idea of this particular club having more to it than just "here's my bass picture, what's my membership number." I'm hoping that is what is happening.

sorry folks - I've got a cheesy streak in me.

I agree that due to the nature of the Birdsong beast: Scott & Jamie's Mojo, the name, truly handcrafted, shortscale, wood-burned SN's, etc. The members of this club, those attacted to its nature, are more of a fraternity and less a statistic.

Cheesy is OK as long as it doesn't come in a jar or get extruded through a tube.

True - there is definitely a "family" (or "fraternity" rather than "frat") vibe to the whole experience.

If any of you get a chance, the next time Scott and Jamie host a "gathering" in Wimberley (this year's is off, but they want to do it again next year if there is interest), GO! We got to make music with Scott and Jamie and Wyatt, met Lyzz before she left for Canada (and by "before" - I mean "a few hours before she got on the plane"), hang with Millard (owner of Cortobass #2 and the first CortoGT - a really good guy), and some of their local friends (the owner of the first guitar made under the Birdsong company name, their buddy/accountant Dax - who was awaiting a guitar at the time, Wes, Brady Muckelroy).

Music was ALWAYS flowing - a trip to Gruehne to see a band at Gruehne Hall, Jamie introducing me to the music of James McMurtry ("Choctaw Bingo"), Scott playing tunes out of Uncle Johnny's songbook on Johnny's banjo, Scott and Wyatt playing two-acoustic-guitar free jazz freakouts, Scott/Wyatt/me on 2-bass/1-guitar improvised grooves, my friend/guitarist Levi leading sing-alongs with his acoustic 12-string at the campfire by the river, and two nights of Levi and Scott and I playing the way Levi and I play at home - jamming out on rock tunes and Levi's originals until 1am.

Friday-Monday of this stuff - it was one of those experiences that will always hold a HUGE amount of importance to me.

1.) Customer needed a bass to match the gig uniform for professional reasons.
2.) Customer had to find the person to do the white finish - Birdsong did everything else and then shipped it. Scott and Jamie neither did the finish nor picked the finisher. All liability (and responsibility for covering the beautiful wood) was out of their hands.
3.) Sure looks cool, though. As a one time thing.

The waiting is hard, but not as hard as I thought... The updates and communication help. It is kinda one of those "hurts so good" pains while you wait.

Are you sure it is 8C-061? There is already an 6C-061....

Yes. That's what Jamie told me. 6C-061 is my body, the Summertime Special. I picked it out of inventory. I asked her if it would be 6C since it's an "old" body or 8C since it was put together in 2008. She said it would be 8C. I was kind of hoping it would be 6C because it's an earlier number, but it's no big deal.
