Anyone know which 'Fusion it is that's owned by the gentleman from My Morning Jacket? *crossing my fingers that he'll play it tomorrow night on Leno* Here's to Birdsong exposure!

In answer to the "which Fusion is the guy from My Morning Jacket playing"

That would be #2 - he bought it from Ben.

That is true he purchased Cortofusion # 2 from me and is giving it a good home.:)..unfortunately due to medical bills, I have had to let some of my beloved Birdsongs leave !!!:crying: but I am thinking positive and am glad to see the Birdsong family growing !!!!:hyper:

My second to last gig was a block party. Absolutely awesome. I'd play block parties all summer long if I could.

Next time, I'll use my extension cab though.

There are only, what, 5 Cortofusions completed and in use. #6, 7, 8, and 9 are still up on the page. I still have #1, Ben still has #2 (last time I asked) and I could have sworn I'd traded PMs or hellos with at least two of the other 3 'Fusion owners.

I'll be getting my Birdsong 'Fusion (#6) in about 10 days. I can't wait to get my hands on her and see what she sounds like. :hyper:

Hi Folks,

My future Birdsong is 8C-138X. Scott came up with a new template based on our conversation and emails. I'll leave those details aside to build suspense. :hiding:

Here are the wood details:

2-pickup custom
Rear rout
Black hardware
Ebony center stringer
Maple pinstripe on bass side
Bloodwood pinstripe on treble side
Walnut wings
Ebony knobs
Ebony thumbrest w/Bloodwood accent
Arrowhead truss rod cover

6-9 months (the hardest part)

I'm also the proud owner of Bbox #38. I spent about 2 weeks on the Birdsong website, Harmony Central and Millard's page before contacting Scott. After our first conversation, I knew that I'd place an order! Scott really gets it.

I came to him with a vague concept, I really only knew that I wanted the body to be walnut with black hardware. As Scott and I spoke a creative brainstorm happened as Scott threw ideas at me. What you see above is the final result!

I just got an email from Scott earlier this week about him going wood shopping for walnut and bloodwood. Keep an eye on the Client page.

Peace and Good Vibrations,

Mark from Wisconsin

To Banditcosmo - sorry about the wait on the number. Welcome to the club and to the Birdsong family.

To jwhughes58 - welcome to the truly rarified air of "Fusion Owner" - after playing my 2-pickup cortocustom fretless almost exclusively for so long, I've fallen back in love with my fusion all over again. Let me know your impressions, both new and after you've had it for a bit. I'm always curious to hear what others think.

mazareth - excellent. I'm jealous.

Thanks Acleex38. I'll let you know how she sounds. I wish I could be at home when she arrives, but I'll be out of town. I'll have to tell the wife to pull it out of the box, but leave all the packing in the case. More pictures for the Word doc I'm putting together on her. I actually was going to get her last year, but a money crunch came up so I had to put it off a year. The only difference between the two was last year you could get the Supremo headstock. According to Jamie (I think. The email is at home) the option was removed and the new headstocks became something between the base and the Supremo headstocks. I gave Scott free reign and have enjoyed looking at her as the new pictures got posted. Many thanks to Ben for having so much information about Birdsong. That definitely helped me decide on Birdsong. Her she is almost ready for shipping.

:bassist:I've found the name for her. She will be Li Qin. It is a Chinese female name that means "Beautiful Stringed Musical Instrument." I need to find the ideographs and the correct pronunciation.

Yeup yeup. I'm the proud owner of 'Fusion #5. Glad to see the Cortofusion is getting some attention now. I absolutely adore mine. It has so much character.

It looks like 'Fusion 6 is set up with round wounds, which is how I've got mine strung these days. So props for that. I do love flats on a fretless, but I really love letting the 'Fusion have some brightness when it really gets revved up.

On a side note, I thought I'd mention that when I visited Scott, Jamie, Travis, Jake, & the Birdsong universe over the summer we talked a good bit about another bass, and I placed an order for a lovely instrument-to-be. It'll be a wait of about a year for it (maybe more, maybe less), but it will be very much so worth it.

jwhughes58 - gorgeous.

Paul - I've gone back and forth between flats and rounds on my Fusion. I keep flats on my fretless and put a set of rounds on the Fusion around the time I got the fretless. I then dropped way back on playing the fusion. Partly because I loved the fretless and it was the newer bass, and partly because the rounds were doing it for me. That said, the fusion with rounds was actually the sound I heard in my head and my ideal tone before I got it with flats.

did that make any sense at a all?

Actually that made perfect sense. I'm sure that a year from now when I receive my fretless it'll be so stunning I won't ever want to put it down. The 'Fusion has such a unique voice, though, that I know I'll be playing it for the rest of my life.

Scott and I swapped emails about the strings and it turns out that he forgot that 'Fusions are supposed to start with flats since they are rather unique Birdsongs. Personally I prefer the sound of flats. My instructor said that I should learn how to play an upright because that is closer to the sound I like. Should be able to post a picture next weekend of Li Qin.
