BL vs democracy

A group I'm getting together is a bit of both, where the singer is basically the BL but we all have a say in how we play
I'm not a natural leader but sometimes I take charge, not to he the boss but to keep the band going in tough times. When things are going well I sit back and let the singer / guitarist think they're in charge.
