more done : routed to set the bridge-plate flush. It was 1/8" thick so I figured lowering it would be a nice integration with the body. The neck sits a little lower in the body due to a thinner profile, (typical J is 1 3/4" and this one is 1.5") and so the whole playing area will be 1/8" lower. The pu cavities are plenty deep enough to set pu height optimally. I'm not a slapper/popper so I'm kinda' diggin' it low and streamline.

I'm using that same bridge on a Precision Bass and it is a really decent bridge:thumbsup:

Your new SH J will sparkle bluely (with a side of maple) and fully satisfy your expectations I'm sure! I've applied a golden/tobacco patch on my arm to curb my enthusiasm before the Sparkle J arrives. "Tired of Tango, and Fandango?... Do the Strand!"

As far as that HM bridge - it is well designed and nicely made for the price. I may need to remove the sparkle finish in the rout so that it fits level with the top as those finishes are inherently thick. I'll know more when it arrives tomorrow.

Yep.
In fact I contacted Marty and got a quote.
I'm thinking Champagne Sparkle Jazz with matching headstock and rosewood board bound & blocked.....Mmmm mmmm good! :D

I feel his pricing is very fair considering the experience, expertise and high quality he delivers. Tell him Geo sez' hello and be sure to post pics when it's done!
