Black Spitfire Guard?

Anybody here ever order a Spitfire pickguard in black? Any pics?

I’m picking up a fairly worn black/maple Precision son that has currently has a white pickguard and I’m leaning toward black on black.
I checked their gallery and there’s not much there, probably because black doesn’t present very excitingly in photos and also tort seems to be their “thing”.

Any pics and related commentary is welcome and appreciated!

Thanks!

I had a black one , I have several other Spitfires but I sold that black pg here not too long ago . Sorry I don't have the pics anymore .It was a perfect fit and nicely cut and looked great on my Dakota red P. At the time he said it was the last he could make because he no longer had the material but perhaps that has changed . His mint and black pg's are fairly priced too . He cuts the correct bevels and they are just done right . However they are not celluloid like his poured tort is and any decent Fender or even Warmoth will be the same thing . I do prefer his mint for it's color but black is just glossy black . Again his prices are fair ,about the same or less than some of the other pg makers so if he has the material and you want Spitfire I say do it .

I had no idea. Live & learn...
I’ll drop them a line an report back.

BTW, reading back at my post, when I said “gotcha” it was meant as “understood”....not in a contrarian type of way.

I’ll drop them a line and report back. I haven’t met this said bass in person yet...after looking through their website and seeing all the delicious tort variations I may stray ina different direction.

I have had Mark make a few for me - I assumed his biz was only tort. Nothing comes close - even better in some ways than vintage tort.

Yea man.
I payed good money some years ago for the real thing vintage tort...:one was successful and still in use, the other was shrink city and never made it out of the house.
I’m thinking Mark does a tort flavour that would work for me on a Black/Maple P. I’ll have the bass in a few days so we’ll see.

Thanks!

I'm assuming his price is around the same as mint green, which is around $85. You might want to try the Pickguardian or WD instead.

FWIW, the wide bevel was never used by Fender on black guards. That doesn't mean you can't do it, and that it won't look great. But keep that in mind if matching a historically accurate look is your aim.

IMO, anodized gold or single ply white is the way to go on a black and maple P. Black on black with maple is a horrible look to me.

Not sure it's possible to get a black and maple P looking any better than this:
