Guys first I'm not in any way defending BC but I think I can help everyone understand why we're devoted to Jason's concepts.
I'm a slap player with several working rock and popular music bands and I play a KDB which I got second hand, so no waiting for me. After spending a lot of time and money repairing and modifying traditional made basses to withstand the rigors of a guy who plays a lot of real world shows (bar fights, drunken brides, on flatbeds, under EZ ups in the rain ect.) The King has really held up for me as a practical gigging instrument. It has ridden in the open bed of a pick up for 45 minutes at 5 degrees then into a heated venue. I have played outside on 90+ days in direct sunlight, high humidity. No issues all all -over 8 years it's just like the day I got it. The King is put together with non reversible gorilla glue and reinforced internally which means the acoustic tone is crap. BUT players in my situation don't need refined acoustic tone we need an instrument that when amplified is capable of punching through a full volume rock band and the seams won't open up due to weather. Because most uprights are built around acoustic tone for Jazz or Classical players they are "fragile" by comparison.
The wait time is ridiculous for a new BC and it's a shame because Jason's basses fill a need for this type of upright instrument better than any of the others currently available. I hope someone with some skill and business sense would start producing a competing line of rugged made instruments, there is a market for a KDB style bass out there.
