Blend pedal ?

Ive seen a lot of posts about blend pedals and I was curious what they do...Ive searched but couldnt find an explanation...Does it blend your dry signal with a wet signal?? Would this be good for a overdrive pedal that sucks out low end?

You've nailed it perfectly. If you have further questions, twist the Blend knob on your Blowtorch for a while. :D

But looking at your current effects... I don't see why you'd need one, unless you're thinking of getting some low-end-sucking OD or distortion pedals (of which there are many).

Might as well ask

Barge blender any good? would that be considered a high Jack ? it pertains to blender right!

Whats the average price for one of these ?

Are all blenders created equal ? I will take a guess and say not but it is a guess

what makes a good blender a good blender "and makes good drinks is not the answer I am looking for lol"

I know all you effects junkies know these answers so give it up:hiding:

As usual, reading some past threads will answer those Q's. But here's the answers anyway:
-Barge is great, it's exactly what the OP was talking about.
-The prices are all shown on the websites of the manufacturer (in the case of Barge) or the retailers (in the case of Xotic, Boss, Radial, etc.)
-A good blender is active (a preamp-type circuit requiring power) not passive (just a blend pot). Plus of course the quality of the specific design and components. I happen to think the Xotic one is best, but others are plenty happy with cheaper options. One feature I really like is a "phase switch" which changes the relationship between the dry and wet signals in a way that can sometimes improve the sound.

I have two Boss pedals coming and there buffered as you know and I want two things, be able to blend a couple of effects together
Yeah boo Boss whatever I like um:spit:
Specific: My overdrive with my octave pedal I am working on getting

And have no tone suck:D:D
+ this is better then doing a search when I was wanting my answers from you or Bongo in the first place "Think it and they will come"
Calling Mystic BOO

Helloooooooooooooo hello helloooooooooooooooooooooooo

Bongo? Boo?

Im thinking about getting a turbo rat...I guess a blend would be needed?

I have a Turbo Rat & in my opinion you will want the blend. The RAT sounds great, but will lose some low end as is often the case with many great sounding overdrives. I've read that even the RATs with "mods" to retain more low end don't seem to retain the low end all that much - not enough for a bass players tastes anyway. So yes - worth it if you go with a RAT, heck even to have around to ensure you can blend in the future with any effects pedals to give you that perfect sound you're looking for.

I use a Boss LS-2 for pretty much precisely that. Octave down in one side of it, pulse synth in the other. Only pain is if I want 100% Pulse Synth and no octave (or vice versa) I have to bend over and switch the thing from A+B to just channel B (or A).

I've never noticed any tone suck. Prior to this I was using the LS-2 to add clean blending to a Big Muff, and prior to that I was using just the returns for... something. I forget.

Thats what I want:hyper:

I did think about that though If I wanted just one of my combined effects solo as you with the Synth couldn't you just turn one effect off before the blender?

Er... Well, this is (simplified) what I was talking about:

bass -> LS2 (A: Octave | B: Synth) -> Amp

If I switch off the Octave pedal, what I've now got is 50% clean bass signal (A) and 50% Synth (B). If I want 100% Synth I need to switch the thing from A+B blend mode to just channel B, which requires turning the mode knob.

I'll probably come up with some stupidly complicated solution to that soon. I'm easily irritated by things like that.

TBH I can't imagine me ever needing those two sounds (Oct down + synth / plain synth) in the same tune so it's not a big deal for me.

One option that I used to use to sort-of get around it, when my pedal collection was a bit different:

I had the clean out from a Q-Tron going into the OC-2, which then went into return A on the LS-2, and the effect out on the Q-Tron ultimately went into the IN on the LS-2. LS-2 was set to A+B Mix <-> Bypass. This meant that if I wanted 100% of what came out of the Q-Tron I could turn the LS-2 off, and if I wanted it blended with the OC-2 I could turn the LS-2 on with it set to A+B mix (nothing in channel B so I just got 50% of return A and 50% of whatever was coming into IN).

Can't do that any more though because I've got a filter with an FX loop now.

That's one of the awesome cool things about the Xotic- it has both a bypass footswitch and a "blend vs. 100% wet" footswitch. That way you can easily stomp between 100% dry, 100% wet, and whatever % blended.

I would probably be driving a fancy car if people like you didn't keep telling me stuff like that.

Edit: A-ha! It's only got one loop, so it wouldn't work for me anyway.
