blenders?

thank you, higgie! you rock.

No problem mate ;)

Barge Concepts quality is second to none. I haven't seen the Radial stuff, but after buying the Barge, I absolutely have no need to. Wouldn't even consider anything else.

Don't forget, you could either have a little toggle switch that would be hand operated for the feedback loop, (which was one suggestion we talked about when mine was being created) which will allow you to keep it, but only be able to operate via hands, or, you could have it removed totally and have the "blend bypass" mod I had done. That would keep things all Punch Factory sized ;)

Well, one had to do it. I guess.

so, when the pedal is off, you get just your clean sound, but when it's on (in A+B mix mode), you get a blend of both signals... right? and you can adjust the clean signal level with "A", and the effects signal with "B," right?
Yeah and since Boss guys are wise, if you plug nothing into one of the loops it automatically turns into a dry signal volume.

I recommend Barge Concepts too, they can modify the VFB-2 to your need in reasonable time, and the actual price is nearly an amazing bargain.
My modification is a little different to Higgie:
I asked Geoff to get rid of the feedback funtion, and replaced that with returning effect volume.
It works like the X-Blender, to ADD the clean signal to the effected one, opposite to the famous Paralooper (I had one made by my friend) which is adding EFFECTED to the clean signal.

Give Geoff an email, he should be able to do whatever you want.

No magic here, all loopers do is route your signal one way or the other, it's up to you to make sure the right FX are on or off when you switch to them.

rockin'!! that's what i wanted to hear. i don't want none o' that crazy magic on my board. makes things go all funny!

thank you all for your patience and info.

looks like i'll end up with a VFB2, no mods.... if i need a mod, i'll let geoff know. thanks again!

edit: but keep adding, by all means!

so does that mean that you have the option of having the clean sound be louder than the effected sound, and vice/versa?

or, to put it differently: do you have the option of adding clean tone to the effected signal (as i understand is how the stock pedal works) as well as adding effected signal to your clean tone?

just trying to understand all these technicalities.

thanks!

Yes, I can make the clean sound louder than the effected by turning down the Returning Volume control, not using the Blend option. Also you can have the effected signal louder by adding gain/volume on the pedals.

Sort of... I can add effected sound using On/Off switch, using Blend to control the balance between them. It means I have to press two switches at a time.

One thing to remind is there seems no gain boost after the blend, so the blended signal sounds a little bit quieter, but I think that's from the passive design.

just came across this...

i had a similar thing done -- i got a barge concepts vfb-2 awhile back & the the feedback wasn't really of any use to me, so i emailed geoff. (great customer service, BTW)

ended up with replacing the feedback with an additional blend. so now i have 2 blends, a footswitch to switch between them, a true bypass switch, and the entire thing's buffered to avoid signal degadation problems.

it's working out well -- i put my fulltone bassdrive & analogman bichorus in the loop, and can toggle between 2 different blend settings.

very useful. barge is way hip - i'd recommend them to anyone.

i got my VFB2 yesterday and started playing with it today. it is (was) a beautiful thing! the blending is killer, the feedback loop is tons of fun, the guts are impeccably arranged inside, it's a sturdy little thing, and it brought my rig to a higher level.

until it broke.

:bawl:

i had just been experimenting with it, and i decided to put it on my board. i got it all set up (which took a long time... measuring and cutting cables, especially), plugged in and got ready to play.... no signal. i re-checked all cables and connections, then i started checking the pedals individually.

the VFB2 was the culprit. the feedback loop works just fine on it, but there's something wrong with the input jack. there's no input signal at all.

i'm sure it'll be fixed, no problem (geoff at bargeconcepts IS an awesome dude)... it just sucks that i have to wait longer.

:(

:O

That is something I would never have thought would happen. Agreed, Geoff is awesome. He'll fix it up for you no problem. I, and everyone else I know haven't had any trouble from Barge's units, so I'm sure this is just a one off thing.

I'm glad you liked it up until that point though.
