Welp...Just fried my 800WT at a gig a few weeks ago, and had the pleasure of frying my back-up Eden yesterday as well. (***!?) I have been playing with Edens for the last 15 years, and am at a loss on what to buy next. I WILL NOT buy an Eden made in China, or any other overseas rig for that matter. I have tried some of the D-class rigs, and they just didn't seem to have the balls. Any suggestions on the latest "cool kid on the block"? I use Fender P and J five strings with an Eden XLT 4x10. Help!

Blew up my 2 Edens! New head ideas??

I blew 3 edens in a one month period. There was a run of them that were just terrible a long while ago. I absolutely loved the sound and eq section of the edens, but just couldn't deal with the technical issues, and spent a very long time chasing that sound with other amps.
To me, the eden was all about big pillowy bottom, and good top end that isn't harsh.
I've owned so many amps since then, the ones I can remember:
-Various Ampegs (tube and SS)
-Glockenklang heartrock
-Markbass LMII
-MarkBass F500
-Genz Benz
-Mesa 400+
-Epifani
-Thunderfunk
-Traynor tube amp
Some of those really weren't even in the same tone range
None of them really sound like the eden. I'd say the closest of the ones I've played would be the Markbass LM series, but it doesn't have that really flexible eq. The Markbass F500 (I'm actually selling one right now) has the flexible eq, but its not as pillowy as the eden.
I'd also take a really good look at the aguilar tonehammer.

One just started smoking out the back, and my back up Eden took a minor spill before the gig...gotta get it in the shop. Maybe a loose connection? Anyway, time for a new amp, but don't wanna settle on a amp not in the same league, ya know?
Thanks bro! My friend is gonna loan me his Aguilar this weekend...hope I can find what I want in it. After driving a Cadillac for all these years, gonna be tough to settle on a Chevette, ya know? I was actually checking out the Markbass MoMark Black 800... we shall see. Thanks for your input. It is kinda depressing to read you were "chasing" that Eden sound for years...I have been hooked on their sound for over 15.
Although Eden and Aguilar are not driving for the same tonal goals, I would be surprised if you didn't find something pleasing in the Aguilar, just don't be afraid to use the tone controls...
Oh and Aguilar is not a Chevette but a more vintage Cadillac
I have a soft spot for Ashdown. Their ABM 1000 is just awesome. I haven't played through it, personally, but I know a guy who has one. I keep meaning to check it out by myself, but haven't had the time. I've owned Ashdown gear in the past, and will be going back to them in the near future, with either an RM 420 head, or a ABM 500. Not entirely sure which, yet. Much of it will have to do with finances.
Man I love my David Eden Metro 2x10 combo made in Minnesota.
Myself, as a vintage guitar amp and Hi Fi collector, bass amps also need serviced the same as any amp....electrolytics leak/dry up, heat over time causes stress on various components.
I was shocked when I first bought my Eden Metro, the speaker leads were barely holding on with a twisted wire.
Check every connection you can.

If i were you I'd take a long hard look at your speaker cabinet. An amp taking a spill is one thing but starting to smoke is another.

It's kind of entry level, I guess, but I don't play gigs, so it works for me.
I'm worried about it though. It won't make any sound till you hit the fourth click on the volume knob.
From there on up, it seems fine. But it didn't do that when I first got it.
