Um...the rosewood clip sounded slightly brighter to me. My readings indicate most people think the maple board gives a brighter tone. But rosewood is the harder of the two woods, and does sound brighter in these clips...are that many people mistaken about the tonal characteristics of maple? I like bright, so I'm thinking I should be going with rosewood fretboards now...:confused:

Rosewood has what I'd say are pronouned low mids - around 300-400.

Maple is more scooped with emphasis... I'd say around 200 and then again around 800+. It's the 800+ area that give it "brightness."

Since there are no standard definitions for things like "brightness" different people can take the term to mean different things.
